DO NOT PURCHASE
By Robert Bockenkamp on Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2015
Horrible mistake purchasing the last two of these outdoor cameras. The first 4 weeks of having these I spent anywhere from 6 to 8 hours a day seven (7) days a week on the phone with their support in India. They NEVER were able to get the cameras to work more then 1 day in a row. The cameras were located within 15 feet of the router and they at one time said that was TOO far for the signal to travel. They had me spend almost $60.00 for a wifi booster which DID NOT HELP. They made me purchase a router hard wire to do firmware updates which did nothing to help. They had me return and replace the cameras which did not make a difference. I own 2 outdoor cameras and 15 indoor Foscams at other locations and have NEVER and still DO NOT have a problem with them. The support people are hard to understand and are mostly clueless. In the past month and a half I think I have talked with almost every person working for FOSCAM in INDIA. I tried calling Amazon to explain the endless problems I have had with these two EXPENSIVE cameras and mostly the lack of support from the company (FOSCAM) and the lady I spoke with at Amazon seemed to have no interest in my problems saying it was something that I had to resolve with FOSCAM because "Amazon does not make things, we just sell them"...saying it is not their (Amazon's problem if the products they sale do not work correctly. Until FOSCAM can make a workable product or hire people that can trouble shoot the problems with their equipment I would say DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM FOSCAM. IF, however, you have one and they are telling you that you need to buy OTHER products just to TRY to get their cameras to work, then don;t spend the money because these fixes will not help. You know your in trouble when the factory representative's supervisor tells you that their cameras are unable to work wirelessly unless they are located within 5 feet of the router....why would they sell an OUTDOOR wireless camera that only works when installed inside within 5 feet of a router?

Stay away from Foscam
By Goose on Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2017
The camera seems to be packed with features on paper, but is absolutely useless in functionality. For most people who are expecting this camera to give them push notifications on their phone when motion is detected - it's not gonna happen. There are a million apps on the app store for both iPhone and android, which is because there is no official app. Foscam's "official" app doesn't even notify you if motion is detected, doesn't let you view motion recordings, and doesn't even let you set the camera up unless you set it up hard wired through ethernet first! What is this, 1992? Really, the only way to get the camera to work over wifi is to plug it in directly into your router first, and then program it with the correct SSID and password. And even after you go through all that, it'll get kicked off the wifi about once every 20 seconds. If you're like most normal people and have an ever-useful Gmail account where you're hoping to send from and receive motion alert emails, you can forget about that as well, because this Foscam software from 1985 that this camera seems to be running, cannot even integrate with an email client as common as Gmail. The description never mentions on-board storage capacity of the camera, and if you're like me, you probably assume that it must have a microSD card slot, which it does, despite the fact that the manual says it has an SD card slot. So if you did your homework and ordered an SD card ahead of time, you messed up too, because the most it will accept is a 32GB card. I bought a 128, and it just does not recognize it. Oh, and also, when I tried to set up cloud recording because the only way to view recordings from the SD card is to log into the camera while you're on the same network as it is; and Foscam says this camera is not compatible with cloud recording. So to sum up, 1. You can't use Gmail, and probably a bunch of other email clients to send from and receive motion alerts. 2. No push notifications on your phone when motion is detected. 3. No actual official app available, so you can't view recorded footage from the app, nor change any settings remotely. 4. No cloud recording. 5. Even after setting up motion recording, it doesn't record anything. At all. 6. Even if it did, you wouldn't be able to see it on your phone. You either have to pay for yet another 3rd party app that tried its best to integrate with this sh1t camera, or wait until you get home (after you were robbed out) and connect to the camera from there to view the footage (if the camera itself wasn't stolen by that time). I spent 3 full days trying to make sense of this system because it seems so advanced looking at the specs. Whoever gave it a positive review must be using it hard-wired through ethernet, with no desire to use all of its features to the full potential. Lastly, I recommend everyone to look at the Amcrest line of cameras, with which I have had nothing but a positive experience. Technical support actually speaks english and help you set it up. The app is great and does everything you need it to do, and the camera costs half as much. Check them out instead of this utter garbage.
