ABSOLUTE AWESOME!

I got this kit on sale for 60 bucks for two drivers one being an impact driver and one being a 12 volt variable speed driver. These things will last forever They are very well built. Each one came with its own battery and a charger to charge both batteries. It also includes a Porter-Cable bag to put them in for storage and carrying. Awesome kit that will last you for years. These things are damn near indestructible. And for the right price this is a killer deal.

Both batteries do not work. After a few hours of charging, they do not work at all. I have this product, but I am very satisfied. Of course, my battery is red, but these batteries are black. Please tell me what I should do. Thank you very much.

Excellent drill/driver combo at a very good price

I have one other cordless drill (bought as an afterthought when I was doing a project where I needed 3 drills simultaneously to avoid the hassle of bit changing). I fell in love with it, and decided to get a combo pack like this one. The quality is excellent, and I have used these on several projects so far. While the batteries are the 1.5 Amp-hour (not the 4) and while there's no battery gauge on these, that isn't a problem. The drill driver is excellent, and the release mechanism (which pops the bit out) is better than the one on the other driver I have used. BOTH are excellent and I love them (and I have stopped using my corded drills almost completely because they're so convenient). If I had to do a large number of large screws (as in when I was helping a friend build his boat), I'd use my heavy-duty 1/2" D-handle drill. Otherwise these are sufficiently powerful for everything I've tried, they aren't too heavy to use comfortably overhead for long periods, and they are just small enough to use in places where otherwise I would have had to drop down to an old 1/4" drill I have. I got these on sale at a very good price, and I'm completely satisfied. They do what they're supposed to (and the carry bag was a nice "extra" which I hadn't anticipated needing or using and now I find to be very useful, too). Definitely recommended, and I would probably buy this again.
Great value and performance.

Been using these for about a month now while finishing up last years "deck project" and they are great. Love these new impact drivers. I thought they were a bit of and unnecessary until I used my brother's Dewalt, then I fell in love. I got a great deal on these around Father's Day and am glad I didn't spend more for a more popular name. These work great. Battery life is very good and for home use I doubt most people will need an additional battery or larger pack. If you're going back and forth between drilling and screwing an extra battery might be nice, however...because you don't want to have two dead batteries at one. The impact driver has a magnetic bit holder on the top of the motor housing which is really nice. I wish it was just a little larger so that I could put more bits up there. The deck project has me going between three different types of bits and they won't all stay put up there. The chuck on the drill is quite large and worked well when I had to use a very large auger bit for a treehouse project. I'm glad I had this drill because all my other drills are 3/8" chuck.

I got these as a gift for my mom, because she asked for them and I've got a million tools. Turns out, these are better than the drill set I've got! I've borrowed them several times, and have yet to find anything the impact driver won't go through. Cinderblocks walls, hard and soft wood, thin sheet metal, you name it, it goes through it. The drill is pretty standard in terms of power, so no frills there. Let's talk batteries. I purchased these over a year ago, and they've been used probably 40-50 times in the past year for various amounts of time. The batteries last a long time, unless heavily used, and charge within 30 min to an hour. They can also be replaced for under $30 (last time I checked they were $20-25 each). My old DeWalt set had batteries die after a year, and cost $95 to replace. They also took hours to charge. If you're in the market, this is a stellar buy! Plus it comes with a neat little bag of goodies that will cover most basic around the house projects, as well as 2 batteries. Just buy it and thank me later :)
Works Great!

I've had this bundle on my Wish List for the past 2 years. I absolutely needed a replacement cordless drill, and this Porter Cable bundle has bounced around in price for a while. I've seen it as low as $99 around the holidays and as high as $129 for the regular price. The regular price still beats out the competition by a large margin. This past Christmas it went on sale for $99 and i didn't pass it up. Amazon Prime provided fast 2-day shipping. Don't know about you, but when get a new tool (especially in the mail) i feel like a little kid opening a new toy. This gave me that feeling. Out of the box: It came with both the Drill and the Driver, 2 20V batteries, and the battery charger. The battery charger is something totally new to me. I've not seen this type before. I'm used to the big block charger that Porter Cable used to have. This is almost like a phone charger. It's actually better because it doesn't take up any room. As you can tell from the size of the carrying bag, it's pretty compact and fits both cordless drills and the charger in it. Heck, you could probably put a small drill set in there with it. Charging: Took somewhere around 2- 2 1/2 hours to fully charge 1 battery. I guess that's not bad now a days. The Charger does have lights on it to let you know when it's charging and when it's fully charged. I'm very happy that it came with 2 batteries. I've seen other companies where their bundles only came with 1 rechargeable. Those batteries aren't cheap, either! Power: Yeah, it's exactly what you'd expect and want from a 20V lithium. Honestly, i haven't used either of them enough to run out of battery yet. I will update this review as soon as i get a good idea of that. Bag: Bag is solid and good, sturdy, rip-proof material. It also has a solid plastic piece at the bottom for added protection and keeping the bag's shape. "Gripe": I couldn't be more excited about owning this. As a homeowner and former Carpenter, there's always a use for these and i will have these handy for a long time. The only "gripe" that i have, is that i'm not too keen on style. Even though they're compact, i'm not into the "Transformer" look. I'd like it kept simple. It also feels cheap to me. The plastic chuck doesn't have a solid feel to it at all. It's very loose when it doesn't have a bit in it, as opposed to their older models that had some resistance. It's something that i will always keep my eye on, and feel that if anything ever does go on the drill, it'll be that. The grip is good. There is a bit of thin rubber on the handle, preventing it from slipping. Overall: I do recommend this product. I've long supported Porter Cable and have a few other products of theirs. Buying this set was a no-brainer for me. I will leave you with a Pro and Cons to further assist you. Thanks for reading! Pros: -Price -Power -Quality -Bag -Small batteries and charger -Weight and Balance -Grip Cons: -Style -Cheap-feel Chuck

I am in the middle of building a shed and I am using mostly the driver on 2.5 and 3 inch screws. I can tell you unequivocally that the driver and drill have plenty of torque for the job. I had a little bit of trouble with the the chuck on the driver with a short bit that came with the screws. I used my longer star bit and had no problem. The Chuck is a quick release and makes it easy to change bits. The batteries are fine and when I am doing a lot of heavy use on the shed having two batteries is useful. I really like that the drill driver are compact and much lighter weight than an older drill I previously used. Very easy on the hands and have a good feel for me. I highly recommend.

I had purchased these for my partner as a Yule gift. He loves these. He is a very busy plumber, and uses these on a daily basis. His first set lasted him (4) years....and he really puts the use to them. For the price, they are so good he asked for a replacement set instead of going with another brand. The battery life is very good, and the power is great.
The Standard Drill is Strictly for Less Demanding Home Tasks

This is a pretty good set for the money. But I must admit, the standard drill is strictly for around the house when you need to screw something in or maybe drill a small hole. This didn't cut it at all when I was trying to drill an inch hole through studs at our new construction home. It just made that ratcheting sound that is basically a drill's way of saying, "Sorry, dude, you're asking too much of me." Pfft. It may be heavy and impressive looking, but I felt like I was working with a Barbie drill. It may as well be pink. I may be a woman, but I don't want wimpy power tools. Give me something with some torque. Disappointed, I pulled out the impact driver. Much better. This drilled through the stud. Mind you, it didn't have the power of heavy-duty drill. It took more time than my corded drill and I sounded like it was whining a bit, as if it was telling me, "I'll do it, but I'm not happy about it." No, my tools don't talk to me, it just seems that way. It did get through, and then to my surprise, the impact driver managed to drill through a double stud at the top plate. Nice. The standard drill did manage to let me drill some 1/4 inch holes through some cement board soffits to start the process of installing an exhaust vent (it's okay, we are using spray foam insulations, so the soffits are going to be non-working and provide no air intake). Overall, this is a good set, but don't expect to be using it on a construction site much. Of course, I figured the standard drill would be too wimpy for any real work at our site, but my husband insisted that I buy some cordless. Maybe I need to do more research on cordless drills that are reasonably priced and can handle real work, but at least the impact driver proved to have some power. So for now, hubby can use the standard drill, and I'll be keeping the impact driver close by. LOL.
