This is a Great Knife for the Price
By Franklin Garza on Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2020
I have owned several SOG knives over the years and I think this knife is one of their best values. It's a handy knife to have around the house or carry in your truck. I wouldn't recommend using it for chopping or anything like that, but the 4.5 inch blade is a good size for basic cutting and the handle feels pretty good.

Dropped manufacturing standard

This is one of those sad cases where the brand equity that a company like SOG has earned is squandered by the sourcing and QC department and they use a manufacturer that had enormously sloppy tolerances. The fold out gut hook, while excellent in design has about an 8th inch of travel and doesn’t lock in around the blade as it should. The little retention holder clip for the extra gut blades doesn’t hold and opens freely. The sheath snap clasp is too short and can’t be snapped closed around the handle. Worthless.

It is so often that I come across a beautiful blade that is attached to a small and insignificant handle. As you can see I'm the pictures my hand is anything BUT those two things. Worh this knife the blade caught my eye then the brand coupled with the price hooked me enough to now explore how big is that handle? I have no reason to ever use the gutting mechanism hidden inside the handle. Played with it though and seems serviceable and somewhat sturdy and stays attached to the knife inside the handle then it is available on a moments notice out in the wilderness. Can't think of gutting an animal as a spur of rhe moment event needing my immediate attention but what do I know. Love the blade touched it up and it honed. Only thing that I see is a problem and a fairly large on too is the handle is hollow and what is stored inside it is somewhat wide. This means when I am holding it and it is moving around in my hand that gap is uncomfortable a little. After roughhousing with it a bit it will work. Still feels weird rubbing in my palm. Build up callous perhaps. Lastly, it obviously is not a full tang which contributes to my scoring. Thank you
