Installed this for my elderly parents who were initially purchasing cases of 1 gallon drinking water (of which I had to hoist upstairs and place for them). It was far too cumbersome, not to mention, wasteful of plastic bottles. Since installing, the filters lasted us 8 months. That's ~$10/month. Not bad for extremely refreshing, wonderful tasting drinking water. I use this water for my Breville Barista Pro every morning for exquisite-tasting espressos and can rest assured that I'm receiving the best there is. Easy to install. My only precaution is to prepare a big enough tub to place your system in and once you unscrew each filter, water may spill out. It's a bit fiddly, but nothing this non-DIY-er can't handle. I think I replaced it (from opening the box to throwing out the old filters) in less than 1 hour! Be sure to test the water running before placing it back under the sink in case of any leaks so you can adjust the tightening of each. I was a bit concerned right after replacement of the water pressure (it was dribbling coming out), but after the initial 15 minutes, I left it alone, and in 2 hours, the water pressure was as strong as ever. Can't recommend this enough, and now I've set myself a notification on my calendar 7 months in advance so that I can anticipate its next replacement. Super simple!

This is review of APEC prefilters that came in 2 sets. Moved into a new house with APEC RO system and even though they have a lot of aftermarket support and even original items from other brands that their system looks exactly the same, I still believe that going OEM is better for my own peace of mind. Purchased an original filter set which includes prefilters, RO membrane and post filter. sanitized and cleaned with soap and water as instructed. I was somewhat surprised that the RO membrane filter is recommended to replace 2-4 years versus 2 letter brand making electrical items recommends their replaced every year. Maybe that extra prefilter makes all the difference. Bought OEM prefilters with 2 sets where I am reviewing. I notice that the replacement filters are different with the previous set I have. They don't have the outer clear mesh and no plastic cover at both ends and they are just a straight hole in the middle. Coming from APEC itself, I don't think there is anything to worry about. First set was ok and 3 months later, I noted that my tank is not full enough even when left left overnight. Also noticed that the output doesn't stop. It was so concerning that my family of 4 empties my tank daily. Knowing that the RO membrane must be malfunctioning after 15 months of use, I bought a whole set again. First prefilter was ok, colored cream but not rusty red which is normal. 2nd prefilter has a lot of carbon dust suspended in water and I know this must be the cause of failure. 3rd prefilter has a little bit. RO membrane has a small amount of carbon dust but when I opened it more, and noted carbon dust of every layer which probably explained why it failed and clogged the membrane itself. What sucks is that because of the decrease in pressure, the auto-shut off doesn't work so I was wasting water for months and my drain is connected to a rain water barrel and it keeps on overflowing. My plants were happy and now that I replaced all the filters again, did not overflowed since. I am disappointed that the failure of their own OEM filter caused me to buy a whole set prematurely and causing me to spend more money buying OEM. I have no choice I guess but to buy OEM filters still. I am looking at buying another brand once these filters fail again.
