WOW!! Bought 18 loving it.
By Martha Wilson on Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2014
The Purchase: I love my Stealth Cam's. Me and a few buddies went in and bought 18! Some for us and some for gifts. They must have been one in every DC or something because they delivered in 18 individual boxes. Stacked UP on the porch when I got home. All delivered together and FAST-2 days. Some came in packed in a regular retail plastic like you see at the store and others came packed in that same plastic and then in an additional box- then packed in Amazon box. The retail plastic casing that it comes in at the stores was cut on one side so having dealt with Stealth Cam before I called Customer Service to ask "Whats up?". They said that it is fine and came in a TWO pack plastic and that plastic packaging was split and then boxed up. I don't care about packaging myself, they could send without packaging all together as far as I care. I am buying the product which is one reason WHY Amazon is usually cheaper. You are not buying all the packaging and retail space and such right?? All good. The Product: I have the Stealth Cam P18 Camo I wrote about and MANY other cams. For the price we did not know what to expect. 6 megapixel, varied video and pics options with EASY presets or custom set up. No sound, you have to buy the higher versions to get sound but for what I am using it for and what I am hunting I don't need it. Like my other review on the P18, easy to set up, works like a charm, great pics, great batt life, awesome trigger speed and works like a charm. Been out in the field and catching shots. I guess the price of technology is coming down or Amazon is getting good deals because you can beat this for the $ !! For people NEW into trail cam and scouting I would advise reading about how to properly place cams to catch optimal view. The improper placement in the sun kills shots, how you angle down a trail or the space you are trying to capture is important also. Make sure you place it to where you feel the object you are trying to capture has the MOST time in the field of view. Don't set on a trail horizontally where the game has 2 seconds of view time as it walks by and blame your cams. The trigger speeds are usually sub 1 to 1 second. Set at a position where the object triggers and stays in the field of view for the longest time possible so that you get the best pics/vids of what you are scouting.

It's a gamble

I'm not sure what the issue is, but I am getting a lot of pictures of nothing (no animals). I have heavy deer traffic on my property but have only captured one picture of a 6 pointer (and the date/time was wrong even though I set it and tested it before placing the camera), though the fresh morning tracks in front of the camera shows 2 fawns, 2 does and at least 1 buck a day. The camera has an unobstructed view of 6 trees with feeder hoses full of corn and a salt block all within 10 yards of the camera lense and my pond (surrounded by millions of tracks) is less than 20 yards away from the camera lense. To access the camera I have to walk in front of it and I would think at least one picture would be taken, but there aren't any when I remove the card - only pictures of clear, animal absent scenery from days before. There have also been a few times when I was checking on the camera that the LCD showed "8888". I'm not sure what that is all about. The camera has full battery (as indicated by the battery meter) and a fresh, totally clean 16GB SD card. I replaced the batteries with brand new ones the other day. I'll check the camera again in a few days and udate this review if I notice any improvement. ***UPDATE: I gave up on the QSET1 (picture setting). I switched to QSET3 (10 sec video). I'm able to capture a lot more action with it set to video, but the date/time stamp is not available on the video; but you can gather the information from the "date modified" column when you insert the SD card into your computer. Earlier in my review I stated a few deer daily. Since switching to QSET3 and changing nothing else (same season, same weather, same salt, same corn, same batteries, nothing changed at all) I am now capturing 6 does, 2 fawns, 2 pointer, 6 pointer and 10 pointer every single day at the camera. However, a few buddies when to check out my property not too long ago and decided to goof off and "moon" the camera. I just had to see what it captured... and not to my surprise, the camera did capture a video, but the video had nothing notable in it, no animals, no humans, just the trees, salt, corn and pond. I asked my buddies about what time they did this and they said "around 1:00". The time in the "date modified" column showed "1:05"; and the closest video before the 1:05 video was at 6:30 am and the video after the 1:05 was 9:17 pm, so there's no mistaking that the 1:05 video was them. This camera will get you by, but it's not the best on the market. I wouldn't purchase it for home/driveway security or pet/livestock monitoring as the camera (pictures or video) cannot keep up with the movement and the sensor isn't the best.
