Simple, High-Quality, Plug-and-Play Drive

I have so far used this external drive with four computers of varying ages and makes, two PCs and two laptops. Worked well instantly upon plug-in in all cases. Playback of my DVDs is much better than with my Dell drive. Like many external drives, this one has to be treated gently when inserting or removing a disk.

I gave this a three-star review because I figured more people would read it before buying, plus I haven't fully tested the player yet. It does play cds but not dvds. I read other reviews complaining that the player did not play discs, but I found out that the problem probably lies with the OS, because in their infinite wisdom, Microsoft and other OS apparently omitted the capability to play dvds, that's why many (most?) laptops don't have a player slot or slide. I had to buy a converter (WinX DVD Ripper, highly recommended) that converts dvds to MP4 files or other outputs. however; but if you want to watch dvds, get a converter.
