The All-Around Best Air Mattress We Have Found

We purchased two SoundAsleep mattresses for use in a variety of situations when we were vacationing, visiting friends and accommodating extra visitors in our own home. They have proven to be remarkably convenient and comfortable. They are very sturdy. The built-in air pump makes inflation and deflation easy. The raised height of the mattresses makes it much easier to enter and exit when compared to old-style thin air mattresses or foam pads. Sturdy and convenient carrying bags make moving and storing deflated mattresses easy. A big plus: The XL model accommodates my 6'6" frame comfortably. The biggest factor: We find these mattresses to be very, very comfortable. In fact, we actually look forward to the opportunities to use them.

I bought this airbed because it was so highly rated. I spend a lot of time sleeping in the same room as the disabled gent I care for so that I can be on close call and thought that this would be a more comfortable option than the one I had. Granted, purely because of the way the top is made (dimpled areas rather than ridges across the bed) is is easier on the body and comfortable to sleep on. However, because of its lightweight build, it is a lot less sturdy than my Ozark Trail. The SoundAsleep also has a tendency to feel like it is 'pitching' a little - as though it has a slightly outward curved base. The other downsides are the length of the power cord and the storage 'hole'. The cord is rather on the short side and the storage compartment has no cover to keep it safely out of the way. In all honesty, I would say it is not good value for the money.
