An in-depth review from an AV pro after 6 months and hundreds of hours of listening...
By EKW on Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2021
As others have mentioned, the sound quality of these Liberty 2 Pro earbuds is excellent. So good, in fact, that quality here really comes down to personal preference, and that's different for everyone. But Anker even has that covered, and brilliantly. The app allows you to browse through a wide range of EQ curves offered by notable music producers. This covers the subjective opinion issue of sound quality, as you should be able to find a curve that meets your personal taste. If not, the HearID auto-EQ does an impressive job of playing Dr. Audiologist by estimating your actual hearing and adjusting the EQ to compensate for those frequencies we all hear differently. It’s crazy easy and fast to do that, and the app will keep your “HearID” curve on file if you want to dabble in other preset curves or dial in your own manually. It really is astonishing how flexible, simple and powerful they’ve made this. Objectively, these earbuds are fantastic. I’ve used them daily for about 6 months, from my desk to the gym to the woodshop. I’ve listened to hundreds of hours of music and audiobooks. There is absolutely zero distortion, ever. They are loud enough to make me (a drummer and 20-year AV pro) happy well below max volume. Bass is tight, clean and loud. Not overly augmented with factory EQ, which some manufacturers use to impress you in the first 10 seconds, but later you realize it’s just a muddy mess below 200Hz. Not here. You’ll be happy even hours later. Other observations… Sound Isolation: These do not have active noise cancellation, and that was initially a concern for me as I intended to use them in a woodshop with lots of droning noise...fans, vacuums, motors, saw blades, etc. I wanted to reduce my end-of-day ear fatigue by reducing the noise level of the shop while also listening to music and books. After using these for 6 months, I no longer want active noise cancellation. I prefer these. They fit tight and do an excellent job of knocking ambient noise down by maybe 20dB or so. Enough to make it easy to hear my audio, but I can still hear the tools as well. Just...not so loud. It’s perfect for me. Likewise, when out for a run, the outside world is quieted, but not muted. I know when a car is coming up behind me, but it’s not distracting. Fit and Comfort: Anker includes a variety of covers to help make these buds fit snugly. On days when I’ve spent 12+ hours on the woodshop, I have no pain whatsoever from wearing them. It’s easy to forget they’re even there. I do strongly recommend taking the time to try different covers and retainers. The combo I ended up with is different from what I initially thought would work, and I’m glad I took the time to play around with the fit. It went from great to perfect. Controls: This is another area where Anker went the extra mile. Through the app I was able to set up single, double and long-press for the functions that made sense to me. Very easy, very awesome. The button...thank you Anker for locating the button on the TOP and not the side of the earbuds. It’s an easy button to find and hit, and unlike side-facing buttons, you don’t end up shoving the bud into your ear canal trying to just press the dang button. Thank you thank you thank you for that. Wireless Performance: Connection is easy (at least on Android...not sure about iPhone). After the initial pairing, the buds try to start connecting as soon as you pop the case open, so by the time they're in your ears you’re ready to go. If I walk too far from my phone (and it has to be pretty far...the range on these is really good), they reconnect very fast as soon as I’m back in range, with a pleasant little da-ding sound to let you know you’re back online. You can also use either left or right bud solo. I don’t think there’s anything left to improve in this area. It just works. Charging and Storage: Remember when The Matrix came out, and everyone was dying to get one of those Nokia phones with the slip cover thing? That’s what the storage case reminds me of. They could have hinged the case. But no, it slides. It’s just cool. Unnecessary, but cool. The case is very solidly built and feels premium to the touch. And since Anker is also known for their charging and battery products, I guess it’s no surprise that the case will charge the heck out of your buds without being plugged in for...I dunno, a long time. They certainly didn’t skimp on the case battery. When the case does need charging, you have that beautiful USB-C jack, OR Qi wireless charging. I usually just toss it on the wireless charger a few times a week whether it's needed or not. In any event, this works out really well for long-distance travel. I recently drove a U-Haul 2500 miles over 4 days, and although I didn’t use the earbuds the whole time, I did use them a lot and never had to plug the case in. Niiiiice. Credit where credit is due, and Anker is a special company. They are highly attentive and their customer service is outstanding. When I first received my Liberty 2 Pros, I noticed that the right earbud didn’t always take a full charge. A quick message to Anker, and they jumped on it immediately and sent me a whole new pair, with their apologies. Not sure what caused the issue...probably a bum battery cell. This happens to everyone from time to time and is unavoidable with small electronics. I’ve installed $70k digital audio consoles with minor issues like that. The difference is how the manufacturer deals with these rare speed bumps. I will continue to buy Anker because I know that even if there is a rare issue like that, they will make it right so fast your head will spin. Today, my family of 6 has a total of 8 different Anker wireless audio products. We all love them and use them constantly. We no longer buy any other brand of charging products either. These guys are killing it.

Very good while they last
By B. C. on Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2025
These were my second pair of Soundcore earbuds, because the audio quality is admittedly very good and the range is also very good -- I can have my device in the house and be halfway across the backyard and still have music playing uninterrupted. The longevity on this earbud brand as a whole, however, is not quite so good. Neither pair of earbuds lasted as long as I would have liked, and for different reasons. The first pair of Soundcores, I kept very clean but eventually the audio in one earbud dulled significantly and none of my best efforts could restore it, so I am thinking it was an internal hardware issue. On this pair listed here, the left earbud simply stopped connecting when placed in the case (again, despite cleaning including the connectors) and would never charge again on its own unless I messed with the arrangement to force it to make contact a certain way. But then unless you're sitting there holding it in place two hours, you can't expect it to charge much. I did call Soundcore support about this issue and their support was abysmal. Suggested I clean the connectors and then told me I was out of luck, no other troubleshooting attempted whatsoever. That left a bad taste in my mouth. So overall: while they last, you will be very happy with the quality. But expect to have to replace them at about a year and a half (and thus just outside the warranty).
