Bakeware fun novelty set
By Masters on Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2020
I feel like I can now review this accurately since purchasing and used both pans. I do wish that they came with double set options as most reviewers state. I find that with 3 kids and 2 adults one set of these doesn't work. I am still deciding if I want to buy and store another set in my kitchen to make a meal that feeds more than 2 or 3 people. The breakdown: I spray these with olive oil or a avocado oil spray just in case and so far no issues with sticking. Premade piecrust works on circle pan just let pie crust soften completely outside the fridge as recommended if not its a pain to fix holes and potentially does break the hot pockets when trying to remove after baking. I find that a 10yr old will eat 2 pockets. They are big though so don't think the portion size is small it's not, but even a 6 yr old had two pie shaped pieces so adults will def need a side accompaniment. Same with squares they are smaller each kid had 3 or 4 pizza pockets (with no side food provided). I didn't get to eat any because we ran short with finished product and its just too long a process to " do it again after pan has cooled". I do find that if you don't put strong flavors inside when prepping your hot pockets the crust flavor will take over so make sure you do season well and think about flavors that stand out. Bbq chicken and onions and cheese did well but the "fajitas" version got lost in the pie crust exterior. Just remember you do eat a lot of crust and it isn't the healthiest option even if you put "healthy stuff"' in the middle. Also made dessert fruit pies and they were good and easiest with canned pie filling; did not leak (was mindful of how much liquid in each section). The square pan I don't use as much did pizza pockets but harder to fit and shape the dough. Kids liked it but they weren't as pretty (cheese came out because I didn't close them well I guess) and as easy (forming dough and closing dough holes is much more difficult time consuming) as the pie counterpart. Also make note if you want to make different versions you have to mark them some how because if not you can't find which is which after baking. Essential with kids who don't like olives or onions etc. don't want to have to tear each pocket searching for pepperoni! All in all I have used these since purchasing 4 times and I like them. They are fun novelty baking item. Important to note that it does take time to prepare everything so I wouldn't say it saves you time in the kitchen or these are quick by any means. The plastic sealing tool isn't as flimsy as others stated, it does what it needs to and mine wasn't broken or cheap. Grateful for recipe book included helps to determine what temperature to put oven and then can expand with ingredients as you wish. I like this item and def recommend to someone who loves to cook and/or has kids and wants to do a ton of work in advance to then get the pay off later by placing in the freezer. Also good for singles or couples who want to freeze pockets for later easy microwave/ toaster oven food. A nice fun affordable gift option too.

this is a really interesting concept. but... i made an 8" pie crust and it only was enough dough for 4 square pies, that's a lot of calories! i'd guess these things go 400 to 500 calores per pie. also there is a lot of unnessary pie crust in the corners that we just break off so you can eat the inside goodie. although it doesn't hold a lot of 'stuff' it is sufficent to make a tasty pie.
