but I've always hated flip flops
By Landen A. on Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2015
Just buy these. Right now. This review is for someone who has never had a sandal and has been on the fence for a while. Living in Florida, you can wear sandals all year round, but I've always hated flip flops. No tread and they slide off at any given moment. Plus your looking at spending a minimum of $50 on ones that don't look like they came from a prison or you stole them from a frat D-bag on spring break. The universals don't have a beer opener on the bottom, nor a Nike-esque air pocket. They don't have fancy leather straps with memory foam soles either. They are minimal and surprisingly rugged as hell. You can run in these, skateboard (to and from the beach), and hit some trails with no worry. Honestly I'm in love, I got my pair in 4 days ago and haven't taken them off since. I went with the lunar grey ones, they are much better looking in person, subtle but still unique and they might even have some sort of reflective material similar to a 3m (I noticed some illumination when I snapped a photo) but I'm not sure one this, could just be the picture I took. That's an idea teva, 3m reflective sandals for your casual cyclist. I agree with the size people, go down a size if you are a half size not up. I got them in an 11 and they have a smidge too much room at the toe, but a know a 10 would be much to small. Great casual shoe, super comfortable, and sturdy. The only hesitation you should have is what color to buy.

Good looking, less than functional as a river shoe
By L. J. Lowe on Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2014
These are nice looking, and they take me back to my high school days. They are relatively comfortable, but I'm annoyed that the back strap is NOT adjustable. When used as true river shoes, the stretching and sliding of the sandal is hard to control without the ability to adjust the back strap. As a consequence, even a person with tough feet like mine is bound to get some sore spots. I'm frustrated by that, and I fear that I may have to buy some OTHER brand to use a true river shoes or buy some of the very unsightly versions of Tevas.

Solid, no-frills sandals

Good, solid sandal that you can do yard work in, then throw on some khakis and wear out to dinner. The 9 fit my 9.5 foot really well. My only two gripes: 1) There's no pull tab to make undoing the velcro straps easier, and 2) There seems to be a little more drop from heel to toe than it looks like in the pictures. This sandal seems tough and well-made so far. I recommend it.
Excellent Sandals

For 45 years or so I have been wearing running shoes as my every day shoes. I walk a lot and until recently had very few problems with my feet. However recently started to have some and decided it was due to shoes being too narrow. So decided to go barefoot/sock foot for a while but then decided that not practical. After searching different alternatives these seem like the best. I am super happy with this purchase. These are very well made. Have good traction on wet surfaces. Are easy to put on and take off. And most important they are very comfortable and have helped greatly to alleviate and most times eliminate foot problems. Another surprising characteristic is that I can wear outside in cold weather (20 degree F coldest) walking for a couple of hours and my feet are toasty warm. This wearing heavy wool socks and very warmly dressed otherwise. Can only do this in dry weather and dry surfaces. If any chance getting wet not at all advisable. And wind affects minimum acceptable temperature.
Nice sandals, sizing info below!

SIZING: I wear a 10 1/2 US mens regular width shoe. I initially ordered an 11 in the Teva Original based on prior reviews, DO NOT size up from your shoe size! The 11's were an extra inch past my big toe. I returned the sandals for size 10's and they fit perfect! The size 10 sandal measures right at 11.5 inches from toe-tip to heel. Hope that helps. As for the sandals, they look great and feel good. I haven't broke them in yet and cannot make claim to durability yet, but they seem to be made well and I'm 100% satisfied so far. I bought the "lunar rock" colored ones and they are more of a silver grey (the pic looks white...). Hope that helps!
Sturdy!

They fit nicely. Your feet may get irritated around the straps since they have no cushioning but it is clearly seen in the picture. It looks like the straps will just snap but they are actually very sturdy. They are not built for all day use but they are perfect when you are going to the beach or taking a little walk on the boardwalk. However I used them all day long a couple of times and they are not bad as long as you make sure to not to tighten up the straps too hard. Perfect sandals for the price!
Finally, a (more) minimalist sandal

It seems that sandals have become more and more like shoes, with arches and covered toes, laces, etc. That's great for some folks, but some of us just want a simple comfortable sandal. I hike and backpack in sandals on a regular basis, and am a fan of minimalist shoes in general. The best I could do for quite a while was the Teva Greckos, but both pairs I owned succumbed to sole separation before they ever wore out. Teva quit making them a while ago. I was thrilled to see they have brought back their original universal style sandal and ordered a pair right away. They were comfortable right away and have a more minimal sole that did the Greckos. The straps are definitely softer than those in the Greckos; time will tell if they are as durable. Some reviews have bemoaned the lack of an adjustable heel strap, but I haven't found that necessary, or even desirable. If I could improve the sandal in one way, it would be to lower the heel just a bit more to make them truly a minimalist sandal. I look forward to really working these sandals on an upcoming backpacking trip.
SANDALS WITH ARCH SUPPORT!

These have to be the BEST FITTING sports sandals I've ever worn! They were a little pricey at a little over $30, but it was well worth the money. They even fit better (and are more comfortable) than my everyday sneakers... and they actually have better arch support than them too. (I have really bad plantar fasciitis). And they can easily be worn all day. As for sizing, it can be a little tricky since they don't come in half sizes. I wouldn't size up, though, unless you want an extra inch of sandals on your feet. I usually take an 11 1/2 size shoe, but the size 11's I got were almost perfect. Great purchase!

Good basic sandal

These sandals are great for casual use. I have been using them for a couple months now. They do not have much support, so you may not want to take them out for a long walk on the trail. Keens and Chacos feel much more substantial in comparison, but it is a matter of personal preference. While these Tevas are well-made, they do not seem quite as durable as other Teva products, but the price is good for what you get. The footbed molds to your feet somewhat, since it is made of foam. You are basically looking at a more durable flip-flop that will definitely stay on your feet. They seem to run a little narrow. The strap system works well (though there is no adjustment in the heel), and the brown color goes with practically anything. Overall, I am happy with this product, and you will be, too, especially if you appreciate minimalist design.
