Unreliable vendor, this item frequently 'disappers' during shipping

Very cheaply made, unreliable vendor. Tubing = steel (not stainless) Screws = steel (not stainless) Bracket = Aluminum First order arrived, however, our second order was 'delayed due to weather' and did not arrive. We have only received half of our purchase so far. We had to cancel the half that didn't show up, and then re-order it in hopes it would actually arrive this time. Fingers crossed. The TUBING IS CONSTRUCTED OF STEEL (approx. 1/2mm thick). The inner tubing does not 'lock' into place (i.e. twist lock), and it slides freely until fastened into place with the bracket screws. This is DANGEROUS because the inner tubing (made of steel) can slide out while handling the product during the mounting process. If this were to occur, it would easily pass through a glass window, break a television screen, puncture drywall, etc. If it were slide out and strike a person, it could cause some pretty serious injury. Be careful when handling this product. The inner surfaces (inside of the tubing) is NOT MOISTURE RESISTANT and some oxidation (rust) is already present within the tubing when it comes out of the box. This is normal for steel tubing that is not coated, but be aware that if you intend to use these outdoors, or in a humid environment, they will rust if you do not regularly coat them against moisture (i.e. wax, silicone, clear coat, etc.). Personally, I coated the inside of the tubing with silicone spray to help with moisture resistance, but this will have to be re-applied periodically or the steel will decay. Because these are load bearing, any rust would rapidly degrade the load bearing capacity of these rods. The BRACKETS ARE MADE OF ALUMINUM and the SCREWS ARE MADE OF STEEL (the screws that come with this product are not stainless steel and they will rust in a moist or humid environment). The screws that are used to secure the rod within the bracket (the set screws) are also made of steel (not stainless steel) and they will rust in a moist or humid environment. Personally, I replaced the steel screws that came with the product with some stainless steel screws (#10 stainless, pan head) I picked up from the hardware store. I also recommend replacing the set screws with stainless steel. The set screws do not hold the rods very securely into the bracket, due to their small size, but they do work. The screws will 'bite' into the surface of the rod (which breaks the paint on the surface)...just something to be aware of. The rods look nice once they're up, but they won't stay nice (especially outdoors) without regular maintenance. The outdoor curtains we hung on them slide freely, but they do catch on the joint between the inner and outer tubing because the plastic shim used at the joint is too thin to properly ramp the joint. In my opinion, these rods are not well suited for outdoor use and will decay rapidly if used outdoors without regularly applying a moisture resistance coating of some kind (i.e. wax, silicone, clear coat, etc.). They are very cheaply constructed and may not withstand heavy duty or extended use. For light-duty or use indoors, they're okay and they don't look bad. TIP: I hung the top hooks facing up and the bottom hooks facing down. This method of mounting pulls the rods into the brackets when the wind catches the outdoor curtain. We found it to be much more secure this way.
