The best way to use Chromebook that I've experienced to date.

I love the idea of Chromebooks - everything in the cloud - but until I got the Chromebook Pixel, this experience has been lackluster. I previously was using the Toshiba Chromebook 2 2015 version and it was not that bad. But then I cracked the screen and needed a replacement. The Chromebook Pixel has always hovered in price @ $1K so I've kind of viewed it as a luxury that wasn't needed. Now that the price has come down it represents the best value that I've experienced for a Chromebook. I currently have over 35 tabs open - an overload that would force a Toshiba 2 crash. Yet, with the i5 (and 4mb of RAM seems to be enough) this thing is acting like a Macbook or something. I could go on but this is the best way to date, that I've encountered, to experience a Chromebook.Caveat: I needed to update the software at least through 3 cycles (from version 37 [i think] to current version of 57)Another Caveat: from the pictures it looks like there is a USB-C jack for the power. There isn't. It may have been built that way in another version of the Chromebook Pixel but not the one I got. Kind of annoying (because USB-C is amaze-balls) but minor annoyance right now. If I do want to connect this to an HDMI screen I could use the thunderbolt that this has.Surprise: I'm surprised that this is touchscreen, pretty cool, but I'm not used to it yet and haven't really used it.Another surprise: I could actually get a sim card and use this while traveling without Wifi. Doubt I'll do that, but it is an option, it seems.

Was good, until.......

My mother and I decided our 6 & 8 year old macbook pro's were getting too slow, and decided to go with these as replacements. They are VERY fast, very sharp with the display, and the speakers are really amazing! If you are looking for a really high grade device that is built well, AND affordable, this is the laptop for you. Love it!Update: Well I learned a lesson in buying this. Google makes all devices have a 5 year period of being able to get devices, and in my case I bought it with less than 2 years left. You have to buy their device brand new from when it was initially released, or else the operating system will essentially die out, or be infected from viruses. Wish all software companies included an expiration date of when updates stop. Lost out by buying this....
