I've needed this for a long time
By Peggy of Seattle on Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2023
I have always been concerned about surge protection for my electronics when traveling. Sometimes I take corded surge protectors with me, but they are bulky and heavy. So, I recently started looking for an alternative and found several on Amazon.I preferred a known brand, protection of 800 Joules or greater, and, ideally, an Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL) seal. I found two Belkin devices that fit my needs, this Belkin protector (with 3 AC and 2 USB ports) and the smaller Belkin 1-outlet SurgeCube (not sure if the SurgeCube is UL listed). When traveling, my charging needs are: laptop (AC), camera battery charger (AC), Kindle (AC or USB), and cell phone (AC or USB). I decided this Belkin Surge Protector (with 3 AC and 2 USB) was the best fit for my needs. But I was uncertain about the size after reading conflicting information. I decided to order it and see for myself.Dimensions. The product dimensions listed on Amazon are: 2.2 x 5.16 x 7.2 inches. These dimensions seem to be for the box the product comes in, which I measured as 1.9 x 4.4 x 7.9 inches. The dimensions of the product itself are: 1.5 x 2 (3.25 counting the plug) x 4.0 inches. It is basically the size of my eyeglasses case. The weight is comparable to my morning coffee mug. So compact, but not tiny. Certainly more travel-friendly than my corded surge protecting power strips. See my photos. What I like. Rotating plug should allow flexibility in using outlets. Indicator light shows the unit is functioning. Ample plug-ins, both AC and USB, to accommodate my needs. UL listed seal. Manufacturer states 918 Joule rating. What I don't like: It would be nice if the plug prongs folded down, out of the way. Rotating the plug is a bit harder than I expected (you do have to depress a button under the plug while rotating), hoping it might get easier with practice.I tried it at home and it seems to work well, will add it to my kit for my next trip.

A bit lose in the wall.

The only part I did not like is that after installation the unit wobbles in the wall.

Purchased this surge protector yesterday, after seeing it in a video review for the Echo Flex on YouTube. Here is my back story: I live in a one bedroom apartment, and these apartments are old, were built in the 60's. Anyway, the Bathroom GFC plus is in a strange place, it's between the toilet and the sink on the wall. Because the sink is a cabinet sink, Echo Flex will not go directly into the outlet because of space. The Flex is a little too wide for the space.I had tried the three sided Wall taps that turn the front outlet horizontal instead of vertical, and while this worked. I wasn't satisfied fully because the Flex is supposed to be vertical, even though Amazon doesn't demand this, I wanted to try to get it vertical in my spot. The Belkin surge protector is a perfect solution, and while for me, I don't need the USB ports, the Flex has one, if I do. The main purpose was to have a flexible outlet to give the Flex more room to plug in vertically. The added bonus here , at least for me is, the outlet is GFC and the Belkin is a surge protector, so not a high possibility, the extra protection is there. The Belkin has a little button you hold down on the back to rotate the plug, and it seems like it can rotate in a full 360 degrees, at least half a circle, if not full.I usually wait some time to write reviews, to give time to pass, however I feel like in this case It was for a specific purpose, and it worked out of the box perfectly, So I posted this review. One tip I would give Amazon, if they read these reviews, maybe provide an adapter with the Echo Flex for these types of situations. Not everyone is going to take the time to problem solve and just give the product a bad rating, even if there is a simple fix like this. It's just a thought to help prevent bad reviews that could stop the sale of products over an issue a particular person wasn't willing to take the time to solve.Bottom Line, I love the echo Flex, and this adjustable surge protector has made it much easier to use in my desired location.
Belkin SurgePlus 6-Outlet Wall Mount Surge Protector withDual USB ports

Seems like every year I add another device that either requires a wall plug or a USB charger. So, like many others, I wind up looking for ways to add additional outlets to my work areas. Since I have the older style round outlets that have a center screw for mounting the wall plate (something this adapter requires in order to secure it in place) I decided to order this unit and give it a try. Here is what I liked: 1. The unit, once mounted, is very secure and you do not need to worry when unplugging a cable that you might pull the unit out of the wall. (NOTE: this unit is secured to the wall via a small screw that attaches to the same hole in your outlet that you attach the cover plate to. As such, this will NOT work on a square outlet as there is no center hole to attach it to.) 2. The unit lets you know if you have a valid ground (led indicator) and also lets you know if the circuit surge protector is functional (another led indicator). 3. There are two USB charge (not data) ports that have a combined rating of 10 Watts. 4. The six outlets are spaced such that you can actually use all of them. What I did not like so much: 1. The design of this unit uses only one plug on a wall plate for actual power and uses just the ground port of the second outlet to stabilize the unit in the outlet. This means that if you were hoping to use this on an outlet where one plug is switched and the other is live all of the time that you not be able to use one of the functions (depends on which outlet is switched). All 6 plugs will either be switched or will all be powered on constantly. Keep in mind that if this is switched, it also means that your USB power ports will also be on the same switch!! 2. While there are two USB ports, for some purposes only one will be usable! This will all depend upon the device you are trying to charge. If your device requires 1 amp or less, then you can plug in two such devices without issues. However, if your device requires a 2 amp charge, you will only be able to plug one device into the USB ports since that limits out its capability. A perfect example of this would be charging an iPad.Something to think about:If you will are thinking of using a Powerline type of data connector on this unit, think again. Most Powerline adapters will warn you NOT to connect their unit to a surge protector as it can interfere with data rates. Does that mean that it will not work? Not necessarily, but it will down grade the data link rate in most cases. This is an excellent product as long as you remember the limitations that I mentioned above. For me, it works well in the applications that I am using it on.
Worked perfectly with several USB items, convenient features

I ordered this Belkin surge protector for a vacation in Italy. I had also ordered an Italian adapter plug - the Orei Grounded Universal 2 in 1 plug. I was concerned that the hotels would not have enough plugs, and that they might have surges. And I was carrying three cameras that recharged with USB plugs and two iPhones. I got the 10 watt Belkin, NOT the 5 watt, as I had read reviews saying the 5 watt had too much power drop off with more than one item. Also, I liked that this Belkin could swivel into many positions, which I knew would be useful on weirdly located hotel plugs. The combination worked perfectly, with even with several items attached. At each hotel I plugged the Orei Grounded Universal plug into an Italian outlet, plugged the Belkin into the Orei, and had five ports available off one wall plug. (Of course, on US hotels there is not need for a universal plug.) A standard extension cord surge protector would work as well as the Belkin for standard plugs, but the added convenience of the two dedicated USB ports was a major convenience, allowing me to charge up to five USB items at once (three was the most I ever needed)- with no noticeable loss of power - using a combination of direct USB plugs and the standard USB adapters that come with some USB products, such as iPhone. I didn't do any scientific tests on power loss using more than one USB plug at a time, but I got all the phones and cameras recharged in normal time each night. I plan to carry this Belkin with my on all my trips, in my laptop bag. It's relatively small and not having another cord is great.
Belkin's a trusted name and this is performing as well as I expect.

Very pleased with this. Belkin is a very good name for this type of product. We have many other types by them. We live in the mountains, so power 'events' are fairly routine. All of our big stuff is on either APCs or other Belkin larger strips, but those are just too bulky to try to put on every little thing. Stumbled over this and was tickled. I didn't even know real surge suppressors had gotten this small. It's fantastic and we haven't lost a coffee pot since we got this. The size makes it ever so much more practical to use for smaller things. With 6 outlets, you can leave all your various counter top things plugged in, but it's so much smaller that it doesn't get in the way. You can screw it right into the socket. It's good looking enough so it won't be an eyesore wherever you put it. Clear indicators of whether the protection is working. And the warranty is a great plus. I'm going to be getting a few 3 outlet ones for other parts of the house. As with our other Belkin things, there are no performance issues with this. I'm good about updating, though, if something does pop up.

I saw this unit when searching for USB power supplies and it stuck out as something that would work well for traveling. I was very right in that assumption. It went on a trip the day it arrived and performed exceptionally well. may be hard to get excited about a USB adapter and a mini power strip, but Belkin did this one right. The USB ports provide plenty of juice (unlike many underpowered generics, this easily powered my iPhone 5 and iPad 3 with no concern. Other USB devices were equally happy). The 3 power outlets allowed me to have my MBPro, Airport express, and anything else needed. The rotating 3 pin plug is a great feature to be sure you plug in at the right angle to assure your cables hang down and aren't being forced in an awkward direction. The only minute I see in this unit -- I wish that one of the 117V power outlets (either end) was rotated 90 degrees so that a wall wart power supply wouldn't take up two (and possibly, with a large one, all three) slots. I travel with a specific production rig that has one traditional power 2 pin power cord, one traditional 3 pin power cord, and a wall wart and this is the only bummer, either plugging the wart directly into the wall, if the second of the traditional two wall outlets is available, or plugging what is in the second plug on the wall (if it isn't also a wart) into the third available Belkin outlet and the wart into the wall. Sounds like a small thing, but it sometimes results in not being able to run off of one outlet, which is the point (knowing that your entire travel setup is supported by a single 117V 15A outlet) I didn't take off a star for this - but it certainly would've made a product Im very happy to be traveling with perfect.

Sturdy unit with 6 grounded sockets and 2 USB-A sockets.Flat front may cause larger transformer-plugs to interfere with each-other.I like the UL listed surge protection - it reassures me that the surge suppression will likely work when needed.I like the central screw which attaches it securely to the wall socket.I don't like that the unit only has one 15 Amp plug on the back that plugs into a dual socket in the wall - I would prefer two plugs in order to share the load current. Instead, the lower plug is a plastic prong that can be broken off if your socket has non-standard vertical spacing, such as a GFCI breaker (which you should not use these on as they would cover the test/reset buttons and indicators).

This review is specifically for the BSV602 model of Belkin SurgePlus surge protectors. Amazon seems to have lumped all SurgePlus reviews (at least 4 different models in the product series) into one listing which can create confusion. In any case, that has no bearing on how much I like the actual product itself.I needed a couple of these to expand the number of outlets on both sides of the bed due to the ever increasing number of tech gadgets in the household (not including old standards like bedside lamps and baby monitor). These two units were installed directly to the original faceplate of the outlets with the included screw and the install time took less than a minute each. The unit plugs into the top outlet and is further supported by a plastic prong that fits into the ground of the bottom outlet. The front of the unit features a green indicating lamp that lights when you are protected from surges and an amber light when you have plugged the unit into an outlet that is not properly grounded. As far as performance itself, it is important to note that the unit charges at 2.1A at the 5.0V standard for USB (10Watts COMBINED). This is critical when using both ports to charge USB compatible devices; especially, larger devices like tablets or iPads. Some of the other reviews lumped in with this model indicate terrible USB charging capability. You just have to understand that if you utilize both ports for charging then you are cutting the available 10W across both ports and, at a minimum, doubling your charge time for the devices. For example, the standard USB charger for the latest generation of iPad is capable of 10W. You will only get 5W from a single USB port on this surge protector when both ports are in use. So you've already doubled your charge time (quadruple the time if another device is being charged simultaneously that requires 10W) and this is a minimum if the devices are on while charging. Long story, short - for my needs I charge a work and personal cell phone at the same time and don't notice a difference from charging with the standard phone chargers. The outlets themselves are nicely spaced. If you look carefully into each individual outlet, you can notice how close the contacts are for each prong. This makes for a very snug fit for plugs. Be sure to brace the surge protector against the wall with one hand and to pull from the plug body (never the cord!) due to the snugness. Otherwise, you may damage the plug, surge protector, or worse - the wall. The Belkin BSV602 6-outlet surge protector has provided me with expanded outlets, USB charging capability, and surge protection of my devices up to $25,000. Careful with the warranty though. As a couple of other reviewers have stated, it is only valid if the device is solely connected to this surge protector. A PC connected via ethernet will not be covered under warranty because the surge could have passed through that particular port instead of just the wall outlet. My only thoughts on improving this design would be that the body of this unit be a direct replacement for the outlet faceplate rather than just residing over it. It would be more aesthetically pleasing to see this unit flush mounted to the wall.
