Just as great at video as it is at audio
By Look da rice on Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2018
I purchased this receiver in 2015 to use in my home entertainment system. It replaced a Harman Kardon AVR 335, which had provided great service for more than 15 years. My primary reason to upgrade to the AVR 2700 was to gain HDMI capability which was not present on the AVR 335. I have experienced more than 2 years of trouble-free service from the AVR 2700 and would recommend it to anyone looking for a receiver to use in their home theater or entertainment system. My only complaint about this system is that I cannot watch a ballgame while listening to the radio call, as that seems to be one thing that setup did not allow, but I am not sure that any AV receiver is capable of this setup using HDMI inputs. Harman Kardon enjoys a well-deserved reputation for premium sound when listening to music, and this unit does not disappoint. It performs just as well for movies, TV broadcasts, streaming video content from Netflix, Amazon, YouTube and Vudu. I performed a BIOS update to the unit when it first arrived, and have not had any problems with the unit since I installed it in my home.UPDATE:The unit has failed. As of October 2018, first the audio failed on one imput, then the picture failed, and now the unit will not power up anymore. I suspect the HDMI board failure that you may have read about from other reviews. VERY DISAPPOINTED! I have had HK units for many, many years, since the HK730 in the 1970s. I had tried a Yamaha once, about 15 years ago, and while it worked, I missed the HK sound for music. I have been running audio through my recievers since Miami Vice debuted in the 1980s, so I have had a wide experience at using AV recievers in my home theater. I understand that HK has gotten out of the home AVR market, and I am not sure I would give them another try after the failure of the ARV2700. I am considering a Denon, but may go back to a Yamaha, and use an old HK AVR335 for music and the LSU Radio Network for Tiger football and baseball game coverage. Very disappointed in HK.

HK AVR 2700
By D. Chambers on Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2015
I bought this AVR from Amazon for a replacement for an HK 354 that lasted 8 years. I was aware that HK had reorganized and this new receiver was made in China rather than Korea. I am not a music buff but I do like action movies with realistic sound. The AVR 2700 uses basically the same software as my older HK 354 which was fine with me. I had the entire outfit, speakers, U-Verse Box, BluRay, Rouku and TV wired up in less than 10 Minutes. Another few minutes to program the remote which was almost identical to my 354 Remote and I was done. When all was said and done the machine performed wonderfully for about 40 days then died. Symptoms similar to another reviewer mentioned, no sound etc.Called HK Customer Service was relayed to Tech Support which apparently is in India and after an hour on hold and 15 minutes of trying to communicate with a guy that spoke poor English from a guy with a strong Southern accent, He finally agreed to exchange the unit. He sent me an email asking me to fill out my name, address, phone etc and what was wrong with the unit. I did that and sent it back. 3 Days went by and no one responded with the prepaid shipping label as promised. Called HK back, wait time only about 10 minutes and another guy sent me the shipping label. The unit is at this time on the way to HK in Fontana CA.In summary, this is a fine unit that I think will please anyone. I have rated it 4 stars. If the unit is repaired properly, i'll leave the rating the same if not, I will adjust it downward.June 6, 2015 UPDATEYesterday I got a brand new HK AVR 2700 from the manufacturer. It was defective right out of the box with no audio except from the sub, There is also some type of problem from the HDMI board with video flashing on and off (I did try changing the HDMI Cable) Therefore I am downgrading this unit to one star. Here is how I know the unit is defective. I still had my old HK AVR 354 in the house. I removed the latest HK 2700 and reinstalled the HK 354 and everything worked perfectly. Plain and simple folks buy something else, these units are junk.
