SUV stops great
By Seanookie on Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2016
Installed the PowerStop kit on my 2011 Honda Pilot 4x4. Easy to install, everything fit perfectly, price was decent, and drilled/slotted rotors look great. The performance was a noticeable improvement. I have never had brake problems with this vehicle especially when loaded with gear or the extended family. Honda did a great job designing the OEM brakes however, I always knew I was driving a big SUV. After installing the system, the total stopping power increased. My wife drove the Pilot and she could clearly tell that these brakes worked better than her little Sports Coupe. I was so enthusiastic about the performance gain, I replaced all the brake fluid with some high-performance synthetic stuff and it stops even harder now. I definitely recommend this product.

Great Performance and a Great Value

This performance brake kit rocks! Replaced factory Acura MDX rotors that kept warping after we had success with them on our Honda Pilot (has same warping issue.) Our commutes are 40 minutes each way on the freeway with lots of stop and go traffic. Kit is easy to install with good instructions for proper burn-in procedure. Pilot has been working great for 6 months and MDX for 1 month with no wobble. If you need to remove Phillips screws that secure rotors to spindles, be sure to get a manual impact screwdriver and replacement screws to save you lots of headaches.

Always has been a fan of this brand since I've bought 2 sets for a couple of cars a few years ago. They not only feel good when braking but definitely stops better.

Good Fit and Performance, but something is wrong with the rotor coating.

Honda factory rotors (Pilot, Accord, Civic) are notorious for developing thickness variation causing the brake pedal to eventually pulse under your foot when braking. Both my Pilots developed this issue. Bought this kit for a Pilot 4 years ago and performance and fit was excellent. Pulling a heavy trailer and brakes worked so much better than the OEM rotors and pads with no fade on high speed quick stops. Only minor complaint is that the noncontact areas of the rotor after 4 years have a lot more rust than the OEM rotors, but this obviously does not impact performance. I just bought this kit for our second Pilot and like before, fit and performance is great. Definitely pay attention to the break in procedure as it is important to get performance from you kit. As usual, before installing the rotors I sprayed then down with brake cleaner to strip away any of the oil remaining from the manufacturing/machining process. On one rotor I noticed small silver flakes in the spray draining off the rotors. Figured this was just left over filings from the machining process, no big deal. On my last rotor of the 4, I got a heavy flow of silver/gray flaky material, almost like paint, in fact it actually dried to the garage floor like paint. Not sure what was going on here, but the fit and performance was perfect.

I had my breaks repaired twice at the dealership only to have them go bad after about 5k miles so I bought these instead. Fairly straight forward installation, need some previous mechanical knowledge/experience. Search for you tube videos for assistance. Very noticeable difference in stopping ability and smoothness. If these rotors and pads don't last or the rotors warp quickly like the OE rotors, I will come back and change my review otherwise a great set of brakes for the Honda Pilot.

I just installed these yesterday. there was a brake package that contained brake hardware but did not include the pad springs. And of course I was missing a spring and had to run to multiple stores. Honda dealership as well as another auto part store does not sell the spring except with purchase of the shoes. Autozone/ advanced auto had a generic brake hardware kit, neither had in stock. fortunately I was able to find another store that had the kit in stock. So after 2-3 hours of running around looking for a 3 cent spring and having to pay an additional $20 for the whole kit i'm sure you can understand why i'm upset. The actual Install went very well outside of this. The brakes seem to be performing well after the recommended break in. The rating does not reflect the performance of the brake, just lack of necessary component.
So Far, So Good

I just put them on last week and so far they are working great! My only issue has been with the screw holes on the rear rotors. I have an '09 Honda Pilot and the screw holes for mounting the rotors didn't line up. About a quarter inch off. Fortunately after reading through some forums and watching YouTube videos, it appears as though the mounting screws are not necessary and are only put their by the factory to hold them in place until the wheels are mounted. After the wheels are mounted, it is the lug nuts that actually hold everything together. Makes sense to me because the old mounting screws were only hand tight and removed easily. Otherwise I am happy so far, I've only got a few hundred miles on them. Hope this review is helpful.

Installed it on 2010 Acura MDX. We had pulsating brake problem and the car would shake violently when braking from 70+ mph on the freeway which was a huge concern because this is family car and our 1 year old daughter rides in it. This was upgrade from our OE brake rotor and pads and it's worth every penny. Car now stops quickly and smoothly. Installed it as DIY project. If you plan on installing it yourself, be sure to buy screws for rotors (usually dealer has them for about $1 per screw) and have impact driver ready. The screws on rotors are hardest to get out and almost impossible without impact driver. This will save you some time from having to run back to the dealer. One last tip for this DIY, if the rear rotor as not coming out even after smacking it with hammer to shake it lose, you probably have parking brakes engaged. :) Overall, highly recommend this product and the seller.
