Good, versatile case

After considering a number of other cases and using this one for a while, I still really do like this case. First of all, I haven't experienced any fit issues that others have reported with this case. It closes snugly and securely and protects the Mini very well. It is doubtlessly bulkier than some of the other cases that are available, but it really doesn't add much weight to it and the grooves and edges make the Mini easier to hold. I also appreciate the many viewing configurations this case allows, all of which are very secure and I never am worried the ipad will flop over onto its screen while standing (this would be very difficult to accomplish with this case). Finally, it's best attribute (in my opinion) is actually a feature that some might find a little annoying. When configuring it as a stand, you have to partially pop the ipad out of its case to prop it up (see product images), which is easy enough to do. One of the nicest things about apple products is their superb build quality and that really premium feel - they are just so nice to hold. You sort of miss that a little when the device is permanently ensconced in a case. That may sound silly but the fact that they're gorgeous is one of several reasons to get an apple product over the competition. Anyway this case provides a good middle ground - good protection and you still get to actually handle the device.

Decent case - not the best fit

I bought a Marware case for my iPad and it's fantastic. I figured I would stick with the same brand for the Mini. The iPad mini itself is easy to pop in to the case and the look and feel of the case is quite nice. The cover part of the case doesn't really fit right, though. There are two "clasps" (for lack of a better word) at the top and bottom of the cover that are supposed to latch the cover to around the body of the Mini. The bottom clasp fits fine, but the top one (which lands right near the power button up top) only fits if you press it fairly hard into place and, even then, it slips out of place with even the slightest movement. The problem is that, from time to time, the ill fit doesn't allow the smart cover to turn off the screen. An even bigger problem is that, because the cover pops open very, very easily - it leaves the screen exposed at the most vulnerable times. For example, I was walking up the stairs in my house the other day with the iPad Mini on a small pile of laundry in a basket I was carrying upstairs. The iPad slid off and dropped to the floor and immediately the cover swung open as it tumbled down a couple of stairs. Everything turned out fine, but the cover, at that point, became useless. I haven't done the research, but I'm fairly confident you can find a better case for this price.
