A Must Have!! Will play everything on a tv!!!
By Jonathon Lang on Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2018
Works great and it allows you to watch anything from your iPhone on any TV that has a HDMI port! Some people on here say it doesn’t for some reason let you watch streaming apps (Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, or just any app that streams any video content) but it’s just simply not true! On any TV that has an HDMI port, which it’s insanely rare that you will even own or use a TV that does not have an HDMI port, you will 100% be able to watch anything on TV with this device that you can watch on your iPhone. I even watch DIRECTV through my DIRECTV app on any TV. It’s a must have especially in a place where there is not a internet connection like in rural areas or just any place with no internet. It just all depends on the type of service you get though if there is no internet connection. But, it all boils down to if you can watch it on your iPhone then you can watch it on a tv with this device. It just simply mirrors whatever is showing up on your iPhone screen. So, as soon as you plug it into your iPhone and then plug it into the TV you will immediately see whatever your screen on your iPhone is displaying! I take this with me every time I travel just Incase the hotel, vacation home, lakehouse, or anywhere that might not have internet, good Wi-Fi signal, or just Incase the place I’m at happens to loose internet service for a while or something? Just remember to invest in a lengthy hdmi cord so you can use it while you are in bed or sitting on the couch. If you do not want to buy a lengthy HDMI cord and you have two at your house then you can always buy an hdmi extension adapter to make two smaller hdmi cords just one longer hdmi cord to help reach wherever you are at. Buy, I highly recommend buying both (lengthy hdmi cord and extension adapter) so in case you go on a trip and the cord isn’t quit long enough you can just add another one from the place you are at, that is if they have another one? I bought a 15’, 20’, and even a 25’ hdmi cord and I have to say the 25’ cord is the one use the most because it’s never not long enough and I always can use the device while I’m in bed or wherever very comfortably. Lastly, since it has a charging port on it which is the best part I might add due to the battery consumption that streaming videos takes up on a phone. It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to buy a iPhone chargrging cord (usb to lightning cord) that is much longer than the standard iPhone charging cord. If you want to use the long hdmi cord to use it while in bed or on the couch and you don’t have it charging then it’s pointless to even use the long hdmi cord or even the device itself. You don’t want to be using this and then go out and your phone is almost dead or if you want to use the device to watch something on the tv and your phone is almost dead. My point is you never know where the outlets are going to be in a place you have never been and you are wanting to have it on the nightstand or just close to you so you don’t have to get up and go hit pause, play, or switch to something else to watch. I hope this was thorough enough and helps answer any questions some of you might have. But, I promise this plays any streaming app your tv so please do not listen to anyone saying that it doesn’t because they are for some reason lying or they just have no idea what they are talking about?! Alright, have a great day!!

It’s tricky but worth it!

This is a weird one. Hard to explain. When it works- it works GREAT! Only downfall is pausing and playing. However, accompanied with my Apple Watch, that is easy for me. If someone didn’t have one, they’d be jumping up off the couch every single time they’d need to pause the show or movie they’re watching. IF they are able to get it TO WORK. That being said- it *very well could be just my TV*. It’s a cheap “Onn” Roku TV, 70”. I do not know factually if that is the case; being a compatibility issue w/my tv, that is. What happens is- if I plug my phone in and go to play something on... my [Amazon] Prime Video app for instance, it’ll play SOUND but NO VIDEO. On my PHONE, while STILL PLUGGED IN- I’ll swipe out of the app, and I’ll be sent to my main/Home Screen (on my iPhone). THIS image/my phone- will populate ON THE TV SCREEN in a vertical position, like I’m holding the phone in my hand, no problem. What I have found works is to: 1- unlock my iphone 2-go to which ever app I’ll be utilizing for video play (Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, HBOMAX, AppleTV, Disney+, etc.) 3- open app and select movie/show I wish to watch 4-play the movie/show on my phone. 5- allow video to start playing (most times, it automatically positions the video in a landscape orientation; but if not- turn the phone to a landscape orientation and ensure your [vertical] screen lock [iPhone] isnt enabled!)... 6- ****THEN PLUG IT IN!!!!**** 7- video and sound populate and play on TV 8- enjoy the movie/show. I’ve yet to be able to plug phone in FIRST and THENNNN play from there. It just- doesn’t WORK. I’ve also noticed veryyyy specifically that with Prime Video- it works. But if you’ve got a subscription withinnnnn prime video (for instance- this happened with Paramount Plus, for me; which I subscribed to withinnnn Prime Video itself to watch seasons 16-18 of NCIS lol ..) it errors out and says something about inability to play due to the subscription or something along those lines. It’s weird. Sometimes it’s seamless. Most times it’s not. I’ve had to restart my phone a plethora of times and feel the issue with video play on the tv had something to do with a setting that automatically generated when plugged in (as.. this does show that it’s almost trying to “mirror it” and will show “Dock Connector” AND “Onn 70in Roku TV”...; the first is the item HERE- and the second is my TV I’m PHYSICALLY connecting the HDMI adapter through.) All in all, there are a number of factors that come into play regarding workability of my device (phone), the device HERE ((for purchase; dongle/adapter)) as well as my device regarding TVs. I haven’t had the luxury of time and ability to play around with it too much to figure out which factor could be the problem; as I am currently working out of state and not home; but soon, I will have that capability of doing so as I have Vizio TVs at home- so.. no “cheap off brand TVs”, which veryyyy well could be the problem. ALL IN ALL- WHEN THE IPHONE TO HDMI ADAPTER DOES IN FACT WORK... IT IS AWESOME!! Video quality is great (service plays a huge factor in this as well. If you’ve got bad service, video will pixelate and buffer. It’s your service. Not the adapter itself [most cases].), the fact that I can play from my phone and utilize mobile data (unlimited w my cellular plan) instead of hotspot data (allotted 30gb per month and then after the 30gb is up- it throttles it down to 600kbps at times of congestion... but even with a 600kbps possible playback- quality is still great when plugged into this adapter as I have the option, then, to utilize my unlimited plan which ISNT 600kbps...Had I not had this adapter, I’d be dealing with constant buffering from a dumbed down hotspot/speed) is a huge plus. Still- I would definitely recommend the product!!! Don’t get frustrated!! Just- play with it and figure out what works for your devices, settings etc.
