I purchased this product last week and just received it off of the UPS truck. I unboxed it (always a joy/pain when dealing with Razer products, depending upon whether you like the challenge) and plugged it into my work laptop + docking station right away. I had a meeting coming up in an hour and wanted to use this headset as the communication device. Much to my displeasure, the machine was picking up zero sound from the mic. I plugged in another headset and that one worked fine. I unplugged the splitter adapter that comes with the Orca and noticed that that was registering as noise on the mic to the laptop. Okay, so at least the mic isn't defective. I removed the splitter and plugged the single cord into my cell phone. Sound worked fine. I then tested the mic by trying out some voice commands. That worked, too. So, just a defective splitter. But, still a defective product right out of the box. I've contacted Razer support and we'll see how quickly they can resolve the situation. Hopefully fast! I'm a fan of their products and have a Blackwidow keyboard and a Naga mouse already. Looking for a super comfy communication mic and this looks to fit the bill if I can get it working. I'll update my review as the situation progresses. Update 1: My first response from Razer to my general inquiry to getting the part replaced was to start the process over and to fill out another form to be submitted to warranty services. Why one department could not simply submit that on my behalf is unknown. This is generally regarded as the "One Company" methodology and is common practice nowadays. Razer must not have gotten the memo. This experience is NOT getting any better! Update 2: After filling out the ticket and sending it to the warranty department, I received a reply a few hours later. It asked me to fill out a list of information...that was the same as what I had filled out in the ticket I was asked to submit a few hours previous! Why could the information not just be pulled from that ticket?!? Infuriating. I have filled out the requested information (minus the S/N again as getting the ear cuff off and back on is a real pain and I already did it once today for them) again and sent it over. If there were less than one star to give, I would at this point. Update 3: So I got another reply from warranty support last night. It said that because they were out of splitter cables at the current time, they were closing my ticket and there was nothing they could do for me. That illicited a rather terse reply from me. And, for whatever reason (my email back, this Amazon review, etc.) i got another reply. This time they made it right. They are sending me a new headset in a box AND letting me keep the one I have! Excellent way to win back a customer. Took some time and some patience, but the end, Razer did right by me. They get my recommendation.

Take it from a fellow gamer, don't purchase this headset.

I'm a pretty die hard gamer and I've been gaming for as long as I can remember. Because I invest a lot of time into gaming it only makes sense to get a quality gaming set up (keyboards, mice, mousepads, etc). To further my gaming experience and so I've invested quite a sum into buying up Razer products (their products are pretty expensive as anyone who buys Razer products knows)over the past couple years and I have not ever been as disappointed with a purchase as much as when I bought the Razer Kraken Pro. First and foremost, the mic: As soon as I got the headset, I plugged it in and began testing the sound quality and the playback from mic recordings/mic tests via Vent, Teamspeak, Skype, and Sound Recorder from Windows. I tested it at first and then I heard complete silence. I did not hear a word of what I just said. At first, I thought maybe I needed to install Razer Synapse and download some drivers, but this was not the case. Going into the Sound Manager in control panel I boosted the mic gains to maximum and turned noise canceling on. I then tried several more times to test my voice playback and the most I could get was no more than the equivalent of whispering. After a few hours of frustration I gave up on trying to get the mic to work. I began to do some research about problems with the Kraken Pro's mic like mine and I found countless people stating their mics were pretty much the same way. This is such a disappointment considering all the positive feedback people have been giving this headset. Second, "The Most Comfortable Headset" is a sham. This headset has heavily padded cups that will enclose both your ears completely and basically is noise cancelling. It seemed comfortable for the first 20 minutes or so and then my ears began to began heating up quickly and the sides of my head began to ache because of the pressure the headset exerts on the sides of your head. I will say however that the headset's aesthetics look very pleasing if you are into vanity instead of gaming, you might want to just get the Razer Kraken. Third, the Audio. The audio from the Razer Kraken Pro is decent, but not of the caliber you would expect for paying $80+. I suppose it's pretty good as far as headsets go if you listen to music, though some songs sound pretty odd with the really noticeable bass-boost that comes with these. Some people may like it, but I only thought it was okay. Forth, the physical state of the headset (parts, design, etc). The design on the Kraken Pro looks good, it really does. The main problem with this headset is that it's so cheaply made that it makes me cringe at the fact that I spent roughly $90 (tax and shipping included) for this. First, the wiring for the analog inputs are as thin as wires get; the durability of the wires make it look like you'd have to buy new ones if you were once accidentally rough with detaching your headset. Also the headset itself (green part connecting ear cups to the padding) is made of pretty cheap plastic. I suppose the design was made so that it would be lightweight and that would add to the comfort, but it seems more like the headset was not meant to last more than a few months even if you were delicate with handling it. I really hope this isn't the beginning of a decline in quality in Razer products. I have no problem with shelling out a decent amount of money on gaming equipment as long as it's made with quality, but this product was complete disaster. TL;DR: Steer clear from this headset, it is cheaply made and the mic is garbage. DO NOT BUY! Not worth nearly a hundred bucks for this!
