Klipsch Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer

I just received this yesterday and have limited use of it. However, I have watched some movie content through it and some music on Pandora through DirecTV. This thing sounds as loud and clear as if it were twice the size. Really impressed so far. This unit was not my first choice. I ordered the Polk 9000IHT for $799 about 2 weeks ago. I got it and one of the 2 digital inputs was broken inside. Called amazon and they sent me a second. That one arrived had another problem, the remote and touch sensitive controls on the unit were locked up and would not do anything. I was told to plug in the head phone jack and connect the red and white ends to my dvr or tv to "unlock" or "ground" the issue I was having. The customer service rep told me he had heard of this issue before and that's how he knew this could help. I sent that one back because I didn't like the "work around" Polk customer service gave me. Get the THIRD Polk 9000IHT. Hook it up within 10 minutes of UPS delivering it.........SAME FREAKING ISSUE AS THE LAST ONE! Called Amazon back up and said I'm done. Please send me the Klipsch SB3! This was always my second choice because I believed the Polk being able to reproduce all 5.1 channels of sound would be superior. Even when it was working I can tell you that this Klipsch sounds much more clear. The highs are clearer and I swear it seems to go even louder although the Polk is rated at 510 watts I think and the Klipsch is around 300. I'm almost glad none of the Polks worked, what a waste of money. I can also confirm the Klipsch sounds head and shoulders above in quality and clearness than the Polk when it comes to music. Sounds like a pair of tower speakers rather than a bar. The polk sounded like you would think a bar would sound. Not bad on movies but music sounded muddled and flat. I'm looking forward to more time with this Klipsch but with only an afternoon and one night of using it I am very happy. With the polk I just felt ok and was almost forcing myself to believe I made a good decision. I have not gotten that feeling with the Klipsch. It also has the 3D button on the Klipsch which widens the sound just a little. Not a huge difference but it is noticeable when listening at loud volumes during action scenes. I addition, if you are considering the Polk 9000 here is another negative I ran into. They provide you with a digital optical cable that's thin as a piece of dental floss. It plugs into the bottom of the unit similar to the Klipsch. However, it is a VERY shallow indentation where the optical input is located. If you use an aftermarket cable which I think most people would want to since the one provided looks like black dental floss, it will stick out making it impossible for the sound bar to sit on its legs. I had several pieces of cardboard cut into squares to help lift the sound bars legs up 1 inch to accommodate the head of the after market toslink cable. Pretty poor design if you are spending $800. Add to that the fact I had to use the headphone input in addition to the toslink to "unlock" or "ground" the unit so the remote would control it. Remember, this happened on TWO different units and the CR rep had heard about it before. I used my aftermarket toslink on the Klipsch with no issue at all. That's due to the fact the indentation where all the jacks are is of normal depth like you would expect. Sorry for so much product bashing but I want to be clear of my complaints between these 2 upper mid level bars that I think a lot of people compare before purchasing. I called customer service at Polk and the lady said she would pass on my bad experience with the service manager. Asked for my phone # and email to give him but I haven't heard anything. You'd think at the very least a form letter apologizing or even more personal, a phone call or even an email. Oh well, in the end that junk 9000 bar lead me to getting the Klipsch SB3 so I guess it happened for a reason.
