Kenmore Refrigerator Water Filter

Thanks to Amazon for carrying the Kenmore brand. Saved me a trip to Sears -- the store is not my favorite place to shop, and it's located in a mall where you need a bodyguard to walk safely from your car to the entrance. Fortunately I decided to replace one that was sitting in the storeroom in its original box, so as to have another on hand when needed. This made it easy to see that the product at Amazon is the same as the product I'd purchased some time back at Sears. It fits, it works, and I'm a happy camper. Recently, my Brita filter pitcher decided to grow a crop of stubborn algae. No amount of cleaning and disinfecting got rid of it. Our water isn't THAT bad, but it must be said that a pot of coffee made with our city water, straight from the tap, makes roadside diner coffee seem superb. In the absence of the Brita, I decided to try filling the pot with water out of the refrigerator filter. It WORKED. Next pot of coffee was delicious. So...I guess this particular filter used in that particular fridge is filtering most of the bad-tasting stuff out of the water.
