Logitech makes decent webcams. Are they the clearest most high def virtual reality? No but they are consistent and never cause me any grief. The previous 720p model I had kicked for more than 8 years! They are durable and they work. No compatabilty issues even if you don't run their software. This one is an upgrade and it works just fine. You can drop it spill liquids on it and it still works.

Poor picture quality for the hype

The c920 gets recommended everywhere. Possibly because it's a webcam that is "fine". It has picture quality that's good but not great for 2012. But it's 2021. My iPhone can take a great video in the dark. The c920 can't take a great video in a purposefully well-lit scene. I'm really confused by how perfectly mediocre this webcam is. How is everyone recommending it? If I set it to be bright enough to expose well, there are hot spots. If I turn the brightness down to fix the hot spots, the whole image gets soft. It seems to always factor the background lighting into the final exposure. So if the subject (me) is well lit but the background is too dark, it'll attempt to correct the scene to show the background too. And there's no way to override it. I've tried several pieces of software for controlling the webcam, no dice. After searching through webcam reviews I think I found the answer for why the c920 is just not that good. It seems like *all* webcams target ok instead of good. The c920 is perfectly normal quality for a webcam and if you want a decent picture you're stuck using an iPhone as a webcam or rigging up a DSLR for the job.
