Excellent case, color different than photos
By Chef on Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2013
My favorite part about this case is the automatic on/off feature that is activated by the cover- it may seem like a small thing, but it revolutionizes Kindle reading for me because it makes it more like a book- instead of having to press a button when you start or finish, you just open or close the cover as you would with a book. Very effortless. This case fits the Kindle Paperwhite absolutely perfectly- in fact, it's such a great fit that it's a bit difficult to get on and off. For that reason, don't expect this to be an "easy on-easy off" case: if you're the type of person who likes to switch out cases for different occasions then this is probably not the case for you. Just so that you know what you're getting, the front and back of this case are leather, and the shell that goes around the sides of the Kindle (and frames the front of the Kindle is some kind of plastic material that is very firm, yet with a finish that is soft and grippy to the skin, not slippery like polycarbonate. The shell also goes around the back of the Kindle, but it is covered by leather there. The case DOES add significant weight to the Kindle- that doesn't bother me, as my hands/wrists acclimated to the extra weight within one to two readings. However, I would be concerned about the extra weight for anyone who had arthritis or other conditions that are aggravated by extra use of the hands. Some reviewers have complained that the case is not conducive to one-handed reading because the front cover does not easily fold all the way to the back of the case,, but I disagree. I find the case works very nicely for one-handed reading if you leave the cover open and balance the front and back cover between your fingers/palm, as you would with a book. Some have complained that the metal Kindle tab on the cover irritates their finger, but I have not experienced that at all. I bought the persimmon case, and it does NOT look like the color in the pictures. It is a much brighter red, not a muted orange-red like in the stock photos and customer photos. At first I was put off by how bright it was, but it grew on me and I decided not to return it. Now I'm glad I have this color, because it stands out really easily on a cluttered desk or countertop, so I never lose it. I was also concerned that the red trim that borders the front of the Kindle would be distracting when I read, but my brain quickly learned to ignore it, so now I don't get distracted by the bright color at all when I'm reading. All-in-all, I would highly recommend this case.

Adequate, But Nothing Revolutionary For the Price
By mno86 on Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2016
I recently traded in my much-used Kindle Keyboard for a Paperwhite. The upgrade has been an exceptional improvement. This case, however, I'm ambivalent about. I owned the official Amazon case for the Kindle Keyboard, which was significantly less expensive and higher quality. This case, for the price, has left me a little wanting. First, the positives. I love the color options. I ended up purchasing an Ink Blue cover. The photo makes the blue look a lot more rich and 'blue' than it really is. It is absolutely a flat, dark navy color. It has a nice hand-feel and the front and back are upholstered in the textured leather, with a brushed silver "Kindle" magnet along the clasp side. The inside has a soft felt material that looks nice and the hinge is very sturdy: I have no fear of ripping when wrapping it behind the Kindle while reading. The Kindle Paperwhite fits perfectly inside and the rubber top and bottom portion that hold it secure it snugly. I love the fact that it turns the Kindle on and off just by opening and closing the cover. It does add a decent amount of heft to the Kindle while on...some may find that a positive, others a negative. Now the negatives. The lack of a band to secure the cover shut means that the front of the cover wobbles and shifts while I'm holding it or carrying it. The magnet isn't terribly strong, and even the slightest shifting of the front of the leather case causes the Kindle to turn on briefly underneath. That design wasn't very well-executed. For the money paid, I expect the front cover to stay perfectly secure while closed (like my old case did for less). Lastly, the sides are rubber (think of a bumper for an iPhone around the edge). I think this looks a little cheap, personally. The center-edge magnet also means the flaps at the top and bottom don't sit very flush when shut. Don't get me wrong, it's nice enough and I'm nitpicking a bit, but at this price point, I believe nitpicking is justifiable when there are other options out there for way less. The bottom line is, this is a nice case...I just don't think it's any better than some of the third-party options that cost literally 75% less.
