DeWalt DCF883B 20V Max 3/8 Inch Impact Wrench
By SeattleFlo on Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2014
This has got to be one of the most useful tools in the DeWalt 20V line-up and is a must have if you are a mechanic and handy-man around the house. Build quality seems to be very good and solid. Very powerful at 130 foot pounds of torque; will easily loosen lug nuts off a car tire, handle exhaust bolts, and suspension. I personally also use it to loosen my oil pan drain plug as sometimes it's difficult to loosen (if you are using this to loosen your oil pan drain plug, be sure not to use it to tighten the drain plug as it is strong enough to strip the threads on the oil pan; these things should always be hand tightened). Remember, if you're using this to fasten or tighten a nut/bolt, do not hold down too long when the bolt/nut is flush against whatever you're tightening/fastening, this thing is powerful enough to either strip the bolt threads, or drive the bolt through. Of course, you'll realize the do's and don'ts when you play with this thing. PROS: - Very ergonomic, excellent weight balance, comfortable grip - Build quality seems excellent (don't like how it's made in Mexico, but can't do much there) - 3/8 Drive accepts a wide variety of sockets and attachments - Small/Compact to fit in tight spaces - Seems to last long using DeWalt 20V 2.0 Amp Hour Lithium Ion Battery (Will accept all other DeWalt 20V 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 amp hour batteries) - 3 L.E.D. lights are pretty bright and light up work area nicely - POWERFUL @ 130ft/lbs; pretty much can loosen/fasten any bolt with ease. CONS: - made in mexico - does not use a brushless motor (more efficient, less wear), uses brushed motor (less efficient, a little more wear, slight burning smell). You will smell a slight burning smell when using, but this is normal. - no other cons so far, highly recommend this product. Other Thoughts: Keep in mind that part number DCF883B is the bare-tool only. You will not get a charger or battery with this item. This is simply an add on if you already own DeWalt 20V Max line of tools.

Would be 5 star but...
By Steven Brown on Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2020
Let me start by saying this is the ONLY Dewalt tool I have that is not a 5 star. I have 15 different 20v tools, 4 chargers and 8 batteries. The only draw back (and it's pretty big) is the stupid ring to hold the sockets on. It literally takes banging to get sockets on and then a plastic hammer to get them off. Why on earth would you do this Dewalt? Now, that being said, once you manage to get a socket on, it has a ton of power and batteries last quite a while. I am breaking down a 460 Ford engine and it will handle all but the head and main bolts. Even broke loose the exhaust bolts that have been on since 77 (except the one that snapped off) Fix the ring and you have a winner.
