Wonderful small/mid-sized mouse

Build quality is top notch. The software is straight forward and easy to use. The only negative about the software is the "achievement" system for clicks pressed, pages scrolled, etc. Totally unnecessary, but on the other hand it does offer great comedy value when you unlock new "mouse power levels". I'm a "scroll enthusiast". The custom light system works as advertised. Sensor is the Avago 3090, which is the best sensor on the market. This was my #1 requirement in finding a new mouse. May be picky about mousepads, but from what I can see this only affects a few % of users... and of course can be fixed by changing to another mousepad. (My Artisan Shiden Kai in red works fine with it). Side grips are a bit rough but wear down to a smoother surface after a week of use. I really like this side grip (and find it comfortable), it's grippier than most rubberized grips and far far better than any smooth plastic siding. Click force required is mid/heavy. Resting fingers have no chance of triggering a key press. Scroll wheel is fairly heavily notched as well. Thumb buttons are out of the way and well placed, and are again fairly heavy buttons as well (very important for side buttons). Comfort is mixed, but this is mostly because it's a smaller mouse that's suitable to both palming and claw gripping. I'm 6'3 and have fairly long fingers, and there's a bit of strain on my pinky finger due to the smaller mouse size. Overall I'm more precise with a smaller mouse and fully expected it to be slightly less ergonomic than the Deathadder I came from (which is slightly on the bigger size of midsized). Regardless, I use this mouse 8 hours a day without issue. Back to build quality, there are a few little things that are done really well on this mouse. As you can see from the thumbnail, the left click button overhangs the side of the mouse. This means there is no crack between the outer mouse shell and the button to run your finger across or collect grime, and it also eliminates any chance of misclicks due to missing the click surface. IMO, all mice should adopt this design, it's very well thought out. Equally as helpful is a little no click ledge to the side of the right click button. People hold mice in different ways, but personally I use this ledge to rest my ring finger on the mouse without it actually coming onto contact with the right click button. Again, very well thought out and every mouse should include this design feature. I attached a video to show what I'm talking about.

Didn't like the side grips at all.
By JJB on Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2013
As someone who holds the mouse with a fingertip style of grip (with bigger hands), the side grips are of utmost importance. This sandpaper type of material that is on the Savu was awful for my hands and grip style. I really wanted to like this mouse as I think that Roccat makes some good products, but the side grips just didn't cut it for me. I felt like I was constantly fighting to keep control of the mouse because my fingers were slipping. Not good when gaming. Also, there is something awkward about the shape of this mouse that caused hand pain/fatigue after about 30 minutes or so of gaming. The design of the Savu did not go well with my grip style and hand size. The overall build quality of the mouse is good - solid all the way through and an excellent optical sensor. Note: I have used the Logitech mx510, mx518, and g400 design for years, and will continue using this style unless something more comfortable comes along.
