but this is just exponentially better. First off

I have had heat sickness incidents for years. No matter how prepared, nor how much effort I put in to making sure I was okay, pales in comparison to what I have needed to do in order to ensure I did not overheat. I have to be hyper vigilant when it comes to watching my diet as I do not eat a lot of salt so I get enough electrolytes on a regular basis otherwise it is another trip to the Emergency room. I have ordered a side of bacon for lunch in the past just to ensure I drink tons of water afterwards. As it is, I drink nearly a gallon of water a day. I have seen this product for a while now, but never in use, much less any place where I could try it out. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I ordered it and have been using it ever since. I am so grateful for this towel! I have a similar product from a different very reputable company, but this is just exponentially better. First off, I like the color. For whatever reason people do not assume I have been injured when wearing it, unlike the other product. Secondly, you have to wet this product and then use it whereas the other product relies on moisture on the surface of our skin. Because I have had so many problems with heat sickness in general, I can get sick in temperatures as low as the low-mid 70s. I have been so over heated and feeling poorly that I have an 8 hour ice pack that I freeze, and would bring to bed with me. I would literally hug the ice pack so I could cool off and sleep. The towel keeps me cooler, not as cold as hugging an ice pack, but definitely cooler than sleeping without it. Lastly, I cannot say it lasts 8 hours like my ice pack, but I can absolutely say it lasts for several hours. This is a definite benefit because all I have to do is wet it and it starts cooling me off. With the other product, cooling off has been harder for me to achieve simply because I have not had any moisture to cool myself off with to kickstart the wrap. Here is a snapshot of my real world experience with this towel: Around 3pm earlier today, I had to go to a store and pick something up. I was in the store for less than 5 minutes but the temperature was still rising. When I got back to to my car, the temp gauge on my rear view mirror said it was only 93 which is a hot day, but certainly not an anomaly. I was not feeling well and there wasn't any perspiration I could use to wet a towel. Fortunately, I was able to go to a drive through restaurant, get a cup of cold ice water, soaked my towel a bit and was cool enough to make it home. The towel is made from a special fabric which has been repels water so soaking it or running it under cold water isn't going to really cause this to soak up a bunch of water. In spite of the challenge in getting it wet, I was still able to benefit from it whereas I would not have been able to benefit at all with the competitor's product. I have no problem in recommending this product to others even if they do not have issues with heat. I am in the process of looking at what other products are available from Mission Athletecare because the temperature inside my bedroom has been hot enough at times to cause my electronic devices behave strangely, lose files on my computers, and ultimately cause them to shut down. A computer can be replaced, an overheated Windedhiker, cannot.

Not for my purpose but may work well for others

This is my first "cooling" towel and I spent a bit more for this brand so I didn't get ripped off by a knockoff. I specifically bought it for an outdoor event that in 90 degree weather with high humidity. I also bought a neck cooling fan for not much more which worked out better in terms of relief from the heat. Here are my thoughts: Pros: - The size and light weight were perfect for the event and what (to me) differentiated it from many other towels I've owned. - I liked that material wasn't dripping wet after wringing/snapping. Because of the absorbency, I could wear it without getting soaking wet from a dripping towel. Cons: - It was not clear to me the benefits of the "technology". I expected the activation process to make the cloth cooler and/or help it maintain it's cooling effect longer which didn't seem to be the case. - The cloth felt the same (in terms of temperature) after snapping it. I only had access to cool but not ice cold water drinking water. (Bottles of water they were handing out from an ice tub going into the event) - Any relief was very temporary as the towel dried off. After reactivating it twice in 30 minutes, I gave up. Perhaps my expectations were too high and it wasn't the right purpose/event. I could see it working better if used before going on a walk/workout from your home - where you have immediate access to ice cold water (not from a public bathroom sink) and not for use over an extended time. In the end, I found more relief using it to wipe the sweat off my face. Because of the pros, I'm glad I had it but not for the money spent.
