Crappy product and horrible return policy costs amazon a customer..,
By darren m laterza on Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2014
What a piece of junk coupled with a horrible return policy... So I ordered this piece of crap several months ago to set up some speakers outside by my pool. Very foolish of me to assume that what was a prestinely packaged item was in good condition. I finally opened the box to set this up over Memorial Day holiday only to find that this item was not new. It was a damaged receiver packaged to look like new. Of course the return period had expired so I tried to make the most of the bad situation... First, the power switch was pushed in and stuck. When I plugged in the receiver, it could not be turned on. And naturally there was no on/off option on the remote. Upon close inspection I noticed that the unit had been unscrewed and open before I received it. Since I couldn't return it I decided to open the unit to see if I could "unstick" the power button. When I opened it, I found that the screws that were supposed to hold the power button in place were broken and it had been attempted to be glued in place. I went to Radio Shack and bought a replacement switch. I put that in and was able to switch the unit on. Unfortunately the LED display is also damaged and cannot be read. I have spent several thousand dollars on Amazon over the years but because of the lousy return policy and the incredible amount of time wasted to try to even figure out how to get in touch with someone at Amazon, I will never shop the site again...

Good for playing music outside

This thing is pretty good value considering how cheap it is. I use it with Four 6.5" indoor/outdoor pyle speakers in a large garage. Its great for listening to music while working or for entertaining. The other reviews are pretty accurate, the fan is loud, its not audiophile quality, and it has a few annoying things about it, like that it always powers up in " " mode. I bought this model over similar Pyle models because it has separate and easy to use microphone control and A/B speaker control, which is handy. Its probably a good 60-70 watts RMS x 2,which is still pretty loud. The neighbors half a mile down the road can hear my music if I crank it all the way. A few pieces of advice if you're using this thing: The iPod dock and aux connector are junk. I use an RCA to headphone jack cable and connect my phone directly to the DVD input and it sounds a lot better than using the built in aux jack. You can buy bluetooth adapters all day for about $20, which is what I did instead of buying a Pyle receiver with bluetooth built it, because everyone says the built in adapter is junk. Don't buy this if you're intending to use it in your house as a theater system or whathave you, but for an outdoor "party" type sound system it works pretty well at a very reasonably price.

Not user-friendly

Works and sounds okay, except for a noisy fan, but the controls are not user friendly and the instructions non-existent as to how to pre-set the radio channels. I can usually figure these things out, but not this time, and the Pyle company did not respond to my request for instructions. Pyle prides itself on affordable merchandise, but it may not be worth it when they cut corners on design, instructions, and customer support.
Good for Spare

Alright for simple sound. Good power but feels cheap. Haven't figured out how to change flashing eq level display unless it only works on mic inputs. Keeps flashing even when quiet. Also, has a noisy fan. Not close to audiophile quality. Don't expect years of use. Good substitute amp with various inputs.

LOUD fan.....

First thing you notice is the fan noise. Holy cow, that's loud. Fortunately for me this is going in a workout room where I would expect the music to be playing louder than the fan noise, but it's pretty significant. I have to echo the previous comment that saving radio stations is not intuitive or easy. For a receiver, its alright. Not spectacular, but works fine. I don't really like the iPhone axillary cord. I'd prefer an auxiliary input so I could get an extra long cord to run my iPhone through the receiver from the elliptical.
good sound. I have 2 older pioneer floor speakers ...

I just needed a low end receiver that would support at least 4 speakers. So far this unit does well, good sound. I have 2 older pioneer floor speakers and 2 outside Bose speakers connected, and this unit pushes them well. I can't speak to the docking station, but I due have my IPhone connected by way of RCA to the DVD/CD port and it does fine. Good product for the price.
