The BEST portable DVD/Music/Gaming player.
By Oliver on Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2015
Spent DAYS looking for something like this so I can use it in my small room to play games and stream speedruns on. It comes with the cable, and all I had to do was buy an RCA/AV coupler and hook it all together. Works like a charm. Audio is LOUD. Even on the lowest possible setting, it's loud as hell. Could be a good or bad thing depending on what you're using it for, but it was loud enough to be heard in my mic from a couple feet away. The screen is okay for what it is, and you can always change the settings to make it much better. It plays movies off of USB and SD, along with the actual DVDs. You can hook it up to a TV and use it as a multi-media player. The case has a really nice textured design to it. The screen can turn side-to side, swivel all the way back, and even be closed with the screen facing out like a really fat tablet. The battery is good and lasts a long time, too, if you aren't near a power source. Power cable is VERY short, though. Roughly just 3 feet long. Overall, an incredibly good purchase. I use it constantly and haven't had a single problem for the 6+ months I've had it. I searched and searched and went back and forth on products for a very long and frustrating time. If any of this sounds good to you, stop wasting your energy and get it already.

I was looking to replace a super old one and this appeared to have what i wanted: SD card slot with ability to read mp4 and avi movies. Battery life in portable plays is SUPER long when using SD versus DVD, so I was primarily going to use SD. First thing I did was look at the SD slot and knew immediately I was going to return it... the SD card slot they use doesn't allow the SD card to go all the way in, it hangs half way out!!! my kids would break that on day 1, what a stupid design. On my old one, the SD card went all the way in. Other than that i am sure is a nice player, but the SD card was a deal breaker for me and why I give it 3 stars.

Purchased for use by 2 1/2 Year Old grand son in multiple settings (i.e. different cars, various rooms throughout the house, on trips (when we take him), etc.). This Pyle does a very good job of fulfilling all of our needs. One thing I would like to point out however, is you might want to take a look at a bigger screen model. I was just a little disappointed in the 7 inch model (though it does ultimately fit the need) - next time I will definitely purchase a bigger screen. The 7 inch screen is Ok, however, when you put in a Wide Screen movie (which is pretty much standard these days for movies) the picture gets even smaller (due to the "black bar" beneath and above the picture due to the Widescreen Format. Pros: -Good Picture, and adequate sound. -Comes with a Remote Control. -Comes with both a DC (car- one minor gripe below in the "Con's"), and AC Cord. -comes with an RCA Plug enabling one to plug this Unit into a TV, thereby this Pyle becomes just another DVD Player. -Player handles just about every conceivable DVD format in the market. Cons: -Small Screen (with WIDESCREEN format). -The supplied DC Plug Cord is very short (you may want to separately purchase a 12 Volt DC Plug Extension Cord). You will definitely need this extension cord if you only have a DC Outlet by the front seats in your vehicle, and none in the back seats. This became an issue when Grandson's mother rented a Mazda 3, which only has a DC Outlet up front, none in the back seat. -The Case that comes with the player is very limited in its use - Strongly recommend you purchase a separate DVD Player Case for use in a Vehicle. I purchased the Case Logic DVD Player case sold by Amazon. Overall, I'm happy with the Pyle, however, next time I'll definitely take a look at the "bigger screen" models.
Works great in the minivan

We've taken this on a few trips and the kids watch movies with no issues. The volume is a little low, but all-in-all, it was a great buy. We stop at Red Box, pick up a few DVDs, and the kids are content throughout the ride. Update: We've used it about a dozen times with no issues. All the DVDs we've rented have worked with no issues. The kids can plug their headphones into it and away we go. It's a little hard to see from an angle, but since it swivels, not much of an issue. I see a lot of people are having issues and/or don't like it. I guess we're lucky because we do like it and I'd recommend it. Also to note: the case it comes with is ok, but it didn't fit on the back of the headrest in our Kia Sedona minivan, just an FYI. No biggie though as they just put it on the console in between the seats.

I wanted to like this player, I really did. I purchased it to replace the Sylvania 7" DVD player that I purchased on Amazon and lasted about 8 months before it completely broke down. This player was $20 cheaper and with an inexpensive insurance policy I had it covered for 2 years. Well, that's just too good to be true I guess. When I got it out of the box I charged it with the home charger and fired it up. It worked perfectly. I use the player not for DVD's but for the USB card (we loaded a bunch of shows onto one card, so there's no loading DVD's in and out). Well, I liked that it began playing the first show within 10 seconds of powering up, and I didn't have to hit any buttons. Great feature. And then about 3 days after I put it in the car it stopped working. I discovered that the car charger didn't work (and yes, it is extremely short, but it worked in my Honda Pilot). No big deal, I thought, with my handy warranty I would just get them to send me a new charger. I recharged it in the house and slid it back in the car. Today, the video plays but has no sound. REALLY??? When I wiggle the screen the sound comes in and out. I decided to just return it to Amazon and get a replacement. Well somehow in the past 4 days Amazon has decided to ship this item out in "2 to 4 weeks". Are you kidding me? I don't know who to be more irritated with--Amazon or the makers of this piece of junk player. So it's getting returned for a refund. I think I'm done with car DVD players. Time to purchase a tablet and a tablet holder for my video playing needs.
would definitely buy it again!

This was a great purchase for our recent travels abroad. Our son is almost 2, and we wanted to have a way to entertain him on our flights/in the airport. He loves his "player" and has even mastered pushing the buttons to play and pause the show. I like that the screen swivels around and I can hide the buttons from him. I also like that there is a switch on the side to turn it on. He hasn't figured that out yet, so it stays off when I want it off. The volume has a nice range--gets really quiet, which pleased me. The car mount case/holder that comes with it worked well in our 2003 Galant. I don't think I can think of anything negative about this little DVD player! As another review mentioned, this is a sturdy DVD player. Our son dropped it multiple times and it doesn't even have a scratch!
Works so far, but a couple stars off because...

For starters, I pluged the thing in and it worked. That part I'm happy with. Unfortunately, some genius thought it was a good idea to put a bar code sticker ON THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN!!! So, a few minutes cleaning did the trick. However, someone wrote a small "4" on the screen as well with what looks like a extra-fine point Sharpie. It's about 1/4" tall, so it's definitely noticable. There's also another square sticker in the top right hand corner that I declined to remove, as it's clear and doesn't affect visibility. The cigarette lighter power cord is also woefully short. I luckily have an outlet in my armrest; otherwise, there woulodn't have been enough cord to reach to the player mounted on the headrest. However, if this thing lasts more than a year (which neither of the previous models I've had from Polaroid or Sylvania has been able to boast), then I'll gladly up the stars by one. Edit 12-9-13: More complaint about the cigarette lighter adapter; it died. Fortunately, I was able to use a cord from a portable DVD player of long past to fashion a new adapter. Happily, that has also solved my short power cord issue. That was good enough for me to drop another star, though. I still stand by my original statement that if it's still working in a year, I'll add another star, although it will now be replacing the star I removed today.
so far has been really great, my daughter loves it

Bought this to replace another brand that quit working after a couple of years that my daughter had. We would have gone back with that one, but the sound on it is so low and hard to hear she didn't want the same one again. The Pyle, so far has been really great, my daughter loves it, the sound seems to be louder & better than her previous player, and overall she's very happy with screen quality, ease of use, and LOVES that she can lay it flat like an Ipad in her lap. As long as it holds up, and doesn't have any tech issues, then I'd say this was a great investment. But like anything, time will tell ;)
Pretty Cool

We are pretty pleased with this item. It's got a pretty cool pattern on the back of the screen. The rotating screen is nice, and the remote works well as long as your pointing it in the right direction. The resolution is a little bad, it's nowhere near the quality of an ipad, but it's good enough to enjoy a movie. The volume seems to vary depending on the movie...some movies seem to be able to have loud volume, others not so much, but this was intended to be viewed at a close distance, so the volume shouldn't need to be terribly loud...if in doubt there is a headphone jack, I'm sure headphones would solve the problem. We did have a little trouble playing a variety of video files...we seem to have the best luck with Divx and VOB...it seemed hit or miss with every other file type. (It play's commercial dvd's no problem, it's the files we had on a thumb drive that we had to convert to another file type to get it to play). We were also pleasantly surprised that the player came with the power cord for the car, as well as the wall, and the cords necessary to hook it up to a tv...and a jacket/cover to attach it to the back of a headrest in a car (with little cut outs for the speakers. I think this was a good buy. My intention was to use it as a dvd player at the gym with workout videos, and this will be perfect. One last note - I was shocked how small the player is...the screen is 7 inches diagonal (6x3.5inches) the whole player is 8x6.25 inches. Just making a note.
Good portable DVD player. So-so MP4 player

I initially bought this product thinking that I would use it to play all my MP4 video files on long road trips. I got mixed results when using my current collection of videos. Some of them worked just fine. Unfortunately, I had to re-convert most of the files to a lower frame rate in order for them to play properly. Needless to say this was more work than I anticipated and I am a bit disappointed in that aspect of the product. If you are in the market for this item remember that the battery life is very short (two hours). This was the advertised battery life, however, and I am not too bothered by it as the device comes with both an AC adapter and car charger. I am very happy, however with the DVD player in general; at less than $50, it's hard to find another portable at that price range. The sound and video quality is very good. I would definitely recommend it to others. I may even pick up a spare for another vehicle.
