These are my go-to pants

These are great pants and have replaced jeans as my go-to pants. They’re lightweight and roomy, very comfortable, and well made. They have elastic in the waist on the left and right, giving them a nice fit. They have 2 roomy side pockets, two rear pockets with velcro flap closures, a pocket in the right leg with a velcro flap closure, and a pocket on the left leg with a zip. These pants are lightweight, so if you live in a colder climate you’ll need a layer underneath them at times. I am a size 36 waist and the 36 pants fit me perfectly. Other reviewers have noted they measure a little longer than the stated size. I have 3 pairs in a 30” length and they all measure 31”. The pants come with a fabric belt but frankly I find it more decorative than functional. With the elastic in the waist I don’t find a belt all that necessary. I have 3 pairs: Gravel is a dark green-grey color, Tusk is a mid-range khaki color, and Fossil is a light khaki. These pants are very easy to care for. They wash and dry quickly and don’t retain creases. In fact, you can hang-dry these in a few hours.

Lightweight, comfortable but pockets need improvement

The fit was perfect, the fabric great, and getting a belt was an unexpected bonus. They should last for years. However, the upper side pockets are shallow, so things can fall out. THe back pockets are deep enough, but the velcro on the flaps is only about an inch in the center, so it doesn't hold that well and the corners of the flap bend up. At this price, full-width velcro, or two pieces, one at each end of the flap, would be expected both for security and appearance. Ditto for the velcro flap on the right leg pocket. The zip pocket is on the left leg, is of adequate size, and is quite secure. However, it should be at the right hip front, to my preference, or at least on the right leg. I don't know why it was moved. A slim pocket the size of an iPhone used to be provided and is needed, because the phone now flaps around in the large leg pockets near my knee as I walk and bangs into door frames if another person is coming the other way as I walk though a door.
