Nice kettle, expensive, handy, but don't let be impulse purchase

I have had this for a couple years and it works great. It is very expensive, it was $99 when I bought it, but I used rewards points to buy it. A $10 kettle from Walmart works just as good, the biggest advantage this has is that you can control the temp. You can heat the water up to precisely 60c which wont burn my mouth. I use this setting for tea. I originally bought this kettle to make coffee, I watched all the youtube vids and they were doing the sales stuff that you need a gooseneck kettle to make the best coffee.... I stopped drinking coffee because I learned how unethical it is, and I get addicted to coffee and I end up having massive headaches from caffeine. Soooo. In reality I probably couldn've just gotten a cheap kettle and been fine, my mom had a cheap kettle from Walmart that I also love. This kettles main advantage is that you can control the temp. It also comes with an easy to clean plastic cover which I like. Overall this has been a good kettle. I leave water in it all the time and I haven't seen any rust yet so the stainless is of good enough quality (just because something says stainless doesn't mean they use a good stainless steel). Overall I have been happy with this kettle, because it has a spout it is on the fragile side, that spout does flex a little, so you can't be super rough with it, but I have moved and it survived the move with care.

Some good, some not good
By D. Schwartz on Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2024
I bought this kettle because I because I make coffee every morning, but also I drink a variety of teas, e.g., black, green, white, herbal which need various steeping temperatures. My old Cosori didn't last for more two years of limited use. I like that this kettle is a gooseneck kettle which makes it easy to pour for the pour-over coffee I make each morning. I like that you can press a button which brings up preset temperatures for coffee (205 degrees), and for each of the different teas, as well as 212 degrees for boiling. Or you can set your own temperature, up or down. This model, as many others, has a hold button which can be used to hold the water at the temperature you set. So when the coffee gets to that temperature, the kettle stops heating any further. Here are the disadvantages to this kettle: 1) The kettle does not maintain the temperature accurately. If I set the temperature to 205 degrees, I can see that the water goes to 206 or 207 degrees. 2) The kettle doesn't beep when the water has gotten to the temperature you set. 3) The most annoying thing (and it's documented in the instructions) is that when you have the temperature at hold and you lift the pot off the base, the hold button goes off. This is incredibly annoying because when I'm doing pour-over coffee, and I need to wait until the water level goes down in the pour-over, I have to keep resetting the hold button each time I put the pot back on the base. It does remember the last temperature you have set and will then heat the coffee back up to that temperature, plus or minus 2 degrees. I don't think this kettle is anything special. I do like that it holds a liter of water as opposed to most others, like the Cosori which only hold .7 liters of water. I use 22 ounce glass mugs so the pot doesn't hold enough water to make 2 cups of coffee or tea at one time (for a guest). I think there may be better models on the market than this one.
