Excellent case among the many alternatives
By ecolescaup on Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2015
I spent an enormous amount of time looking for a case like this to be used for storing a firearm in a vehicle. This seemed to be the best for the desired purpose and it has performed very well. Excellent features are the low profile (thus it can be slid under a seat in a vehicle whose seats have low clearance to the body), a sufficiently long cable that can be attached to a part of the seat's mounting frame while still allowing for access by someone sitting in an adjacent seat, a high quality lock, two keys, and a strong metal case. I can think of numerous tools that could be used to get the box open absent the key or to remove the box from a vehicle. No, this product is not equivalent to a bank vault. But consider the purpose: To store something (a firearm in this case) securely inside a vehicle and out of sight. I don't worry much about the fact that the cable could be cut or the case broken into. Why? Because when the case is used as described, it is done so in an urban or suburban area with people constantly around. Someone breaking into the vehicle is unlikely to have the time and power tools or other large tools with them to work on the cable or case. Especially if the case is out of sight (how would they know that it is there?). Now, if the case were being used as described and the vehicle left in some remote location for days at a time, then yes, someone could have the time and tools and space to break into the vehicle and case (again, if they knew it was there). But that is not my situation.

Why Does It Stink Like Crazy? !!!
By WMH on Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2015
I ordered this case to use as reasonably secured storage in my SUV, and I'm sure it will accomplish that goal very well. It is sturdy, and unless a thief goes looking for it, they will not likely see it immediately in a smash-and-grab situation, and even if they do chances are they likely won't stick around long enough to cut the cable. My only complaint is with the flimsy lightweight foam interior liner. Not only is it simply a couple pieces of very thin, soft removable foam, it stinks like a bucket of rotten onions! After receiving the case yesterday, I had it sitting in my home office. After a few hours I smelled a powerful onion odor, and after sniffing around for a few minutes, discovered it was coming from this new case. I opened it up, and sure enough. Well, I ran the two pieces of foam through the washing machine with some laundry, and it still stinks. I don't want that in either my house or car, so I guess I'll need to throw them away and replace with some carpet or other sturdy lining material, which I'll glue inside the case. Okay product, but the inside reeks, making it worthless to me for its intended purpose without further time, material and effort on my part. 05/01/2015 Update -- Noting the horrible stench of the foam liner above, shortly afterward I noticed the same from the plastic coating on the cable. Therefore, I've since replaced this case with a more secure "Club Personal Vault," that doesn't stink up my car. It's also much sturdier and more secure in my opinion. The cable is at least as heavy as that of the Stack-On unit, and it uses a pull-out drawer design rather than an upper and lower clam shell one that could perhaps be pried open after bending with a couple of sharp blows from a tool.
