GoodCook Precision Bread Knife 8"

This is a big strong bread knife. The handle is substantial and well made. The knife is well balanced and the serations are even and smooth. Very good addition to the knife drawer.

As many people usually think of bread knives only to be used for bread, I use bread knives for tomatoes. I rarely eat bread and when I do, the bread is usually pre-sliced for me. However, I use this bread knife for cutting delicate foods like tomatoes. It allows the tomatoes to not get squished when getting cut as the serrated edge essentially saws the tomato in half. The length of this knife is pretty long at 8 inches and would work well for carving meats as well. I have used this to pre-portion fish fillets and works well in in that use case as well. This bread knife cuts all those items without pressing down on them and results in a non-damaged product in the end. The knife is also dishwasher safe, so clean up is easy.

It seems whenever I need to slice some fresh bread, the bread knife is always in the running dishwasher leaving me to try and cut off a slice with anything from a steak knife to a chef’s knife. That never ends well. I ordered this 8-inch bread knife from GoodCook to improve the odds of me actually ending up with slices of bread rather than mangled wedges. The bread knife has a quality feel and a good length to handle nearly any type of bread, rolls, or bagels. The stainless steel blade is nice and sharp, straight, and is just thin enough to have a slight flex to it when you try and bend it. The blade terminates into a solid plastic handle that is well riveted and has a good grip. I tested the feel and function of this knife by slicing up a banana nut bread and a loaf of fresh baked white bread. It cut amazingly smooth and straight so that each slice was uniformly cut. Cleanup was quick and easy as I put this in the upper rack of our dishwasher when done—easy. All in all, I am pretty happy with this bread knife and see myself using it on a regular basis in rotation with our other bread knife. The current price of less than $13 on Amazon makes this a value in my mind, as well. Definitely would order this knife again at this price point.

For such an affordable knife, I'm pleasantly surprised. The build quality very good - everything is consistent and the blade is sharp. The handle is comfortable and the whole thing feels good in the hand - a little heft, but balanced. It certainly cuts bread without any issues. Very worthwhile in my opinion. Well made, no frills, and very functional. I'd easily get this again.

This is going to cut a loaf of bread, but it may not be the best choice at this price point. The blade isn’t the most sturdy, and at the start not the sharpest. A nice soft loaf of French bread you’re going to be good. If your baguette is slightly hard, or bagels a bit stale…it’s going to struggle, and that can lead to accidents when you’re trying to exert extra force.

I needed a new bread knife for sourdough slicing, so I decided to give this a try. I will say that the handle is comfortable to hold, and the knife slices through bread nicely. I wish it had a more-sturdy cover to the blade (just a plastic sheath) but for the price it’s fine and functions as expected.

This is an 8" serrated knife from GoodCook. I needed a new bread knife because the one I've always had is pretty much an antique. This knife from GoodCook is great looking and has a solid, sturdy feel. The handle is very comfortable to hold. It is a full tang knife which improves its balance and its durability. The blade is sharp and cuts through fresh baked bread and tomatoes with ease. This is a high quality knife and a good value at this price point.

This knife is a lot heavier than I expected for the cost. It cuts bread very easily and has a good feel when cutting. This is replacing a very old cheap knife that is dull and it’s hard to sharpen serrated knives so getting this one was easier than finding a way to sharpen the other. Hoping the knife stays sharp for a long time, will update my review if it doesn’t.

It slices through bread effortlessly, giving clean and even cuts every time. The handle is comfortable to grip, and the blade feels sturdy. However, after a few weeks of use, I noticed it started to dull a bit faster than I expected. Despite this, it's still a decent knife for the price and works well for everyday bread slicing.
