Brother Compact Multifunction Laser Printer

I decided to overlook the lack of insight the reviewer gave on this printer and purchased it anyway. I work at an inner city high school and must make my own copies. I need a printer (other than my 6 year old Canon Pixma inkjet which I killed from the volume of copies I have made since September) that could handle the job. I did not want to buy another ink jet since I am not going to be making color copies and I do not care about photo quality prints. I wanted something that was going to be cost-effective, simple to install and had a good reputation. Since I saw many reviewers say that the hp brand was going downhill, I decided to opt for a Brother. I needed something that would be shipped fast and in time for the holiday worksheets that I plan on assigning. Received this rapidly, installed it on my planning period, but an error message regarding the drum kept popping up. I repeated the steps to resolve the issue, called in the school's tech staff and we all came to the same conclusion: the drum was bad and must be replaced. Really? A brand new printer with a brand new drum needs to be replaced? This is such a pain as I had already dragged it from car, across the school's parking lot, through the school, up the stairs and in to my classroom. At the end of my long day, I dragged it all back down and in the box it sits...waiting for UPS to pick it up. Needless to say, I will now be waiting for those Black Friday sales - the ones I desperately wanted to avoid - to choose a new printer so I can lug THAT one from my car, across the...well, you know the rest. BAD DRUM = do not purchase!
