Makes a good, tough, manly, versatile man-purse.
By F on Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2017
So far, this pack is perfect for me. I'm not really the hardcore EDC/Prepper sort of person.. I don't even hike outdoors that much (though this would be nice for that). I notice a lot of people reviewing this bag for those kinds of lifestyles, but I'm just a regular guy who likes to carry a bag... and my old one - which was some kind of Swissgear travel bag that happened to more or less suit my purposes - was getting a bit old, so I decided to upgrade. I'm no expert on these type of packs, I just know this one has been working out perfectly for me. I like to have a place to carry my phone, earbuds, maybe a deodorant spray or stick to freshen up if need be, and maybe a few other everyday items, without loading down and bulking up my pockets. You could say I like to carry a man-purse.. so if that's what you're shopping for, you might like this bag. The whole pack is made up of a tough nylon fabric, coated with teflon. It feels very durable, and I feel certain this material will not wear through anytime soon, especially with the type of light usage I would typically put a bag through. All of the plastic buckles feel pretty tough, snap securely, but are not too difficult to open. The shoulder strap is much wider and more comfortable than my old bag, and very adjustable to sit just right on the hip, or however high you want to carry it on your body. The pad on the strap is comfortable, and can also be easily removed if desired. Another strap is present on the back, for looping around the waist presumably, but I have easily removed this entire strap by simply unbuckling it and pulling it out of the loops on the back of the bag. I can put it back on, if I ever need it. This bag is designed to be carried on the right hip. If you prefer the left hip, I believe you want to get the S-type: Maxpedition Fatboy S-Type Versipack (Black) The main pouch is accessible by opening the plastic buckle at the front (with adjustable length strap for larger loads) and lifting the whole flap upward. That main pouch also has a water-resistant cover with a drawstring to close it even more securely, but can also be pushed down flush with the inside of the pouch to keep it out of the way if you don't wish to use it. I won't likely use that liner much, but it's nice to know this bag has a safe place for sensitive items, should I ever be stuck in a rainstorm. Lifting that front flap also allows access to a smaller zip-around front pouch, with an open pocket on the front. That open pocket is where I have been keeping my cellphone. I have a Galaxy S8, which fits vertically into the pouch, with a couple of inches exposed at the top.. but since I keep the phone in a case, and the flap is normally covering and securing this area, I'm not concerned that it doesn't fit all the way inside. This is the handiest place to keep my phone where I can get to it with relative ease, and if the elements became a concern, I'd just move my phone into the more water-resistant main pouch. One side pocket zips around front-to-back, and the other side pocket has a velcro strap over it, which can actually be completely removed if desired. These aren't very large, but could be used to keep a couple of small tools or essentials in. The zip-around one also has some loops for slipping tools or pens into, and one that is big enough to slide a mini maglite into (See one of the other reviewers' pictures). There is also a large flat pocket behind the main pouch (the large zipper up near the shoulder strap in the main picture of this item). I believe this would be an ideal place to carry a firearm, as it fits my S&W Shield with plenty of room to spare.. but I'm keeping a small, thin notebook in there right now, since I don't have a CWP. There is also another small pocket that buckles shut near the beginning of the shoulder strap, which also has two pen slots on either side. This bag doesn't have a lot of room for large, bulky items, which is fine with me. If you need more space, you might want to go with the Jumbo size: Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack. I'm a ~6-foot heavy man, and I could probably carry the Jumbo and it might not seem that large on me, but this Fatboy size feels just right for my body type. I was afraid the Jumbo might have been too bulky, and so far I'm glad I went with this size (though I don't own the jumbo for comparison, sorry). Overall, this bag screams quality. I could have gone with something cheaper, but reviews about fraying material and broken zippers on inferior 20-30 dollar bags tempted me to spring for the more expensive brand. I'm happy with my purchase, and I foresee happily using this bag for many years, rather than throwing away a broken piece of junk.

Too much pack
By Mona Lisa on Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2015
This is an extremely well built, rugged, durable versipack- likely the best on the market. As others have commented, there is very little to criticize about this product-- it is simply extremely well made. Unfortunately, the world is slowly moving away from tactical looking gear, it's too conspicuous and attention drawing (unless you live in an environment that is heavily oriented towards the outdoors). Nothing screams "I'm carrying concealed" or "I'm into prepping and EDC" like this bag, and that is an issue where I live. Other manufacturers are moving towards inconspicuous concealed carry and tactical bags that are much more subdued but also rugged and well made. I wanted to like the pack, unfortunately even my family stated they wouldn't be seen with me if I wore it in public. In the woods, hiking, walking, etc., perfect: in the community, shopping, walking about, etc., draws negative attention.

Great item to secure your items. It is a bit bulky but I enjoyed overall.
Super Manbag

Needed something more discreet and less touristy than a backpack, more comfortable than over-the-shoulder manbags, and more practical than a cross-body bag (or those "one strap backpacks" or sling bags). I ran into these "tactical conceal & carry bags" during my search, and they fit my girlfriend's fashion criteria for me and my own sense of comfort and practicality. These kinds of bags are alot more comfortable as a cross-body bag as they are designed with that in mind and hug the hip and rest against the body more cleanly. The size was big enough to stuff a windbreaker in and still have room for an iPhone 6 Plus, large RAVPower battery for the phone, wallet, snacks, etc. for an urban day trip. Also good for taking to the movies or other little trips where I need a mid-sized "man purse." Cross-shoulder bag was more practical than a backpack...I could sling it behind me, but quickly have it in front as well with equal comfort. This bag is built like a tank, which makes it a little heavier and thicker than comparable consumer-oriented bags, but I appreciate gear that lasts and can take abuse. This was designed with military and back-woods use in mind and looks very rugged. Slight overkill, but I know I won't be replacing it for a long, long, long time. It is designed for conceal-and-carry so the external pockets are sized a bit oddly when not using it for that, but I found ways to make use of all the pockets. I don't carry a gun nor do I use this bag for it's intended purpose.

I never imagined myself to carry a bad (purse) like this...?!? However those that ridicule are the first to praise when you have a bandaid, some triple antibiotic, a tweezers, a flashlight, a multi-tool, a shoe string, a nail clipper, hell, I carry a little eye glass screwdriver and the list keeps going. All those little things you wished you had all day everyday. Father to three young active kids produce lots of bumps, scrapes and cuts. They run to daddy for a squirt of first aid spray with pain relief and a bandaid...... "medic!!!" To top it off I have a 15 + 1 9mm Walther P-99 and an extra mag tucked inside. I practiced some drills drawing my weapon, I've found it to be relatively easy and fast enough for comfort. Granted it's not like drawing from my open carry paddle platform but there's a trade off...... this bag over all has become an essential EDC for me. There is planty of room for above mentioned items. It really depends of what it is your trying to do. If you want a 24-48 hour survival bag this is NOT it. This is more a day to day thing. Bonus! I can now carry some disposable wet wipes for those times when hygiene is paramount ;)

So about a year ago my hubby started having constant pain in his leg.. come to find out it was because of his wallet.. go figure. I jokingly said what you need is a murse .. chicks never have pain and we always have all the stuff we need in one place.. never have ti figure out which pant/shirt pocket to stuff things in etc. Then the vision of my man becoming one of those metro DB's or worse looking super hipster ironically of course came to mind and that is when I went on with my day. My man however, decided there had to be something out there that he could carry his wallet and other dude crap and his weapon. This bag is manly butch, but not overkill it doesn't scream military, militia or anything hold ALL his crap including his gun. VERY comfy and unobtrusive also no metro DB/hipster. IF you or your dude needs/wants something like this .. then this is your product. One thing ladies.. it must never be referred to as a murse it is a "tactical bag" lol Guys are just too cute
Best Day Pack for travel

I have been using this bag daily for 3 months on my trip on Asia and I can't be more happy with it. Really durable, easy to access to everything you need and enough pockets to fit all your gear. I use this bag to carry: 1Lt bottle of water, 1 Camera, 1 Gorilla Tripod, 1 Anker Battery, Sun glasses, antibacterial gel, pack of klennex, my passport, my kindle paperwhite, some snacks, earplugs, and a whole bunch of other stuff that I use on daily basis. It fits perfectly to your waist so you can walk confortable all day long, and I'm talking that I usually walk 15-20 KM (9-12 miles) daily with it. The average weight of all those things are around 2-3Kgms (4.4-6.6Lbs) but you won't feel it, and if you do you can easily adjust it to carry over your shoulder. The next time I will buy the Jumbo version because it does have a place for the water and if you are traveling you will need it.
My New EDC Bag

great quality bag, smaller than my Rothco advanced tactical bag, and much easier to carry. the cross body strap is 4" to 6" to short so the bag sits high on my right side and the material the strap is made out of bites into my neck, I would carry it over one shoulder but there is not enough grip to keep the bag on my shoulder, and it was constantly slipping off. all these complaints and still 4 stars as I know I can correct any problems. I do wish the strap were made of of more pliable material but of well I knew what I was buying
Best EDC bag I've ever had

This is an excellent quality pack for my EDC use. I've had a similar pack like this before that I use for hikes and motorcycle riding and it just didn't carry enough. This Maxpedition can carry a whole lot more and has numerous small compartments to store smaller things. The build quality is very tough and durable. I really enjoy that there's a waist belt to keep the pack in place during activities. My previous pack kept swinging around, especially while I was on my motorcycle. The conceal carry compartment is quite spacious, especially for subcompacts like my M&P. My full size 1911 can barely fit, I had difficulty getting it out quickly. Overall, this pack is definitely worth it for anyone looking for a durable and spacious EDC bag
