My absolute favorite 'Fingertip' Grip mouse.
By Drakan290 on Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2012
I'm not sure what the other guy was talking about, but I'm absolutely in love with this mouse. It's a perfect fit for my hand and playstyle, small and fingertip. The mouse is the same size as a Copperhead, most cheap OEM mice that ship with new computers. Now, on to the benefits.. I use this mouse as a no-frills Optical fingertip mouse. I set it to a single DPI setting (1600) and go to town. Lighting, right side buttons, smoothing, etc all off. I use it as a 5 button mouse, and that's all I need. The optical sensor is super precise, similar to a 518, and works well on both cloth and hard mats. It has no jitter, skipping, acceleration or liftoff problems. I do have to add though, the liftoff distance is fairly high, but after you hit the distance, it won't move around, nor will it move around as you're lifting off. The mouse is super light, just plastic and rubber. No extra weight, no built in weights or weight system, nothing. It's the same weight as most OEM mice. The pads are pretty good, not as good as a Sensei (with the gigantic teflon pads), but not detrimental at all. They fit the mouse. The best part about this mouse is it's shape and layout though. It's got rests for thumb and pinky, which work perfectly, allowing me to keep my fingers off my mousepad and not drag. All of the useable surface is coated in a rubberized plastic, making it super grippy. That was my single qualm about the Sensei, it's too slippery. The double-sized scroll wheel doesn't tilt, and it's some sort of rubber, so it's grippy and easy to move. The buttons are set to a good tactile setting, HOWEVER, you must wear in the side buttons for about 200-300 clicks before they reach their perfect setting. They are quite stiff out of the box, but after worn in are perfect. I've used (in the past 6 months) a G9x, Lachesis, Sensei, Xai, G500, G700 and MX518. I'm no idiot when it comes to what I want, and this was it. I play Starcraft, CS:S, BF3. I wanted something I could point where I wanted the cursor to go, click, and be perfectly accurate. The G9x - negative acceleration causing misclicks. Sensei - Great mouse, but super slippy with the faux-metal grip on the top. Xai - Okay, but only 3 buttons. G500 - Too damn big and negative acceleration. G700 - Too heavy, and acceleration, and too big. MX518 - Okay, but slightly too big, and palm grippy. And the Lachesis is just too long, absolute nightmare for anyone but full-hand users. About the software; I set my settings (very easy) and then let it run in the background. There's enough options in there for any user, but I doubt most people even use those settings. If you're into software, I'm sure the Roccat website can explain the software better than I could. To summarize everything; this mouse is the perfect weight. It's got an absolute dream of a sensor, no jitter, great design with rubberized everything, and it's the same size as OEM mice. It's the perfect mouse for me, and hopefully, YOU.

Average at best - Better alternatives
By Webtrance on Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2014
Short and simple - The Kova + is average at best. I have medium sized hands and find the mouse too small. It's put together nicely and has decent lighting effects, though it still feels light and sort of cheap in my opinion. The most critical fail is the fact you cannot remap the left and right click. Big mistake! Sure, you can use the easy shift and left/right click for a keystroke, but the point is to be able to assign a keystroke/number/macro to the left/right click without having to press another key at the same time. For example, if I want the right click to be the = (equal sign) to be assigned for sprint or down-sight within a game, I cannot do that with the Kova +. That's an absolute deal breaker. Also, the side buttons are way too hard to click, unlike mice such as the Steelseries Sensei/raw or Thermaltake's Theron or Black Element. My recommendation and top pic as an alternative: The Coolermaster Inferno. Period. Price vs performance it smashes the Kova +. There are no lighting gimmicks, or sounds with the CM Inferno. Just straight up quality, on the fly profile/DPI switching, marcos, "SCRIPTS", and utilizes the equivalent to Kova's easy shift button called the "Storm Tactics" Multiplier Key. Buttons are in reach and very easy to press on the CM Inferno as well. Bottom line, the Kova + is not a gaming mouse in my opinion. You'd be better off with any of the mice I've already mentioned or perhaps a logitech or even a good 'ole Razer Deathadder. Cheers!
