Great holster!
By R. Thompson on Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2016
I bought this holster for my Springfield XD9 mod.2 pistol, and I like it so much that I'm going to buy them for each of my guns, if available. In comparison with the "original" holster (the one that shipped with the gun): * This one, though still very light, is larger and more stable on my hip. The original tends to twist my belt under the weight of the gun, so the butt end of the gun leans outwards and bulges my coat, and the barrel points into my thigh. Not a good feeling! * The original hangs slightly below the bottom of my coat, so concealment is only partial. This one rides just enough higher that the holster and gun both are normally completely concealed. * The original has no extraction lock. The lock on this one holds great, but is very easy to find with my finger and to release. * Drawing the gun is much easier with this one, and re-holstering is much, MUCH easier. * Both of them fit the gun perfectly out of the box, and both are adjustable in case they had not. * It appears to me that the original is plastic. This one is carbon fiber, so should be much more durable. * This one will accommodate a much wider belt. * I probably won't use the paddle, so I can't speak to that. The original doesn't come with one. One caution: the Blackhawk is shipped with two "Snaplock Adjustable Belt Loop Tabs" that optimize the holster's fit on different sized belts. If your belt is too narrow, then the holster can slide upwards and interfere with your draw. The Snaplocks prevent this problem. When attaching them, it is very important to make sure that they actually do SNAP into place! If you don't push hard enough to get "over the hump", then they will fall off and get lost. I emailed the company and requested replacements for the two I lost, and they immediately replied that they are sending replacements. I figured out what I did wrong when I was putting together my second Blackhawk holster, so I don't expect to lose any more!

Great for HK USP & Beretta 92fs - Scary for XD Subcompact
By JS on Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2014
As many are aware, there is a lot of controversy over the Serpa holsters due to shooters accidentally discharging their firearms while drawing. I honestly think much of this has to do with the pistol one is using - in my experience, these holsters are not all equal in that respect. For HK USP and Beretta 92fs, the mechanism leaves ones finger on a flat surface (on the frame above the trigger guard). Even if excess pressure is applied, the shooter's finger will probably not 'slip' onto the trigger - and since both of these pistols are double action on the first shot (with a long, heavy trigger pull) the chances of an AD or ND are slim. The XD subcompact on the other hand is just scary with this holster. The Serpa deposits the shooter's index finger on a rounded part of the frame which slopes directly into the trigger guard and I found that with only a slight bit of excess pressure (as one might exert in a moment of stress) my index finger slipped directly onto the trigger of this striker-fired handgun during the draw (an accident waiting to happen)! I rated this holster low because I want people to be aware of the differences, not in holster design, but in the pistols themselves, that can make these holsters either awesome or extremely dangerous. Please practice with your holster before using live rounds and watch out for this. FYI, I did end up returning this product due to this issue as well as a defective problem on the paddle (which is an uncommon thing). Safe Shooting! Just noticed that this review is number 666! Coincidence???
