Worth every dollar!

I purchased these to have with me during winter hiking. I live in Tennessee and hike in the Smoky Mountains weekly. I used these last week to hike to Mt. Leconte which is over 6,000 feet in elevation. We started early and the trail up has a lot of exposed rock on a narrow trail with complete ice. Currently there is 8 inches of snow and negative temperatures up on Leconte right now. These spikes did wonderfully and I wouldn't have been able to make the hike without them. Me and my friend wore our spikes the entire way (15 miles) and they held up perfectly. They truly lock you in and we had zero slips or falls with them. Awesome product!!

Not for Extreme use
By jpw on Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2016
Bought these in late January 2014 to be used while hiking in the mountains of western Montana. Wanted something that could be easily stuffed in a daypack and used when conditions warranted. Experienced many of the same problems that other reviewers have reported: the heel plate often becomes loose, often slips off the sole of the boot and around the back side of the boot heel, and the chains have torn free from the rubber. I doubt mine have 3 miles use and they have self-destructed to the point that they are useless. These are definitely not for anything approaching "extreme" use.
