mmmm brains
By Shane and Melinda on Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2013
I am undoubtedly a zombie enthusiast and that is what first grabbed my attention. However, after taking a closer look I realized this would really be great for parties. When I got it home and tried it out for the first time I wasn't sure how easily the ice would come out of the mold with all the detail but it does a great job. I ended up freezing several ice cubes ahead of time for a party and it was a big hit. I have done juice and water in it and the ice cubes held their awesome brain shape really well and because they are the nice round shape, did not melt as fast as traditional ice cubes. Mine and my guests drinks were never watered down and we didn't have to use a whole bunch of them in each drink; just one did the job. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice slow melting ice cube and a lot of fun!

I tried this the day after I got it. It was great! First off, it makes ice cubes that are about the same size as normal ice cubes. If you are looking for something larger, keep looking. For me, this is the exact size I wanted. I'm making JELLO!! I don't know about you, but I love Jello Jigglers. I don't add any of the cold water at all. So, they come out extra firm. This does mean that they will need more fridge time to set. Also, the colors will be more intense. Finally, be sure to spray the mold with a little of your favorite non-stick spray before pouring in the Jello. They turned out great. I'm trying different color combos right now. Best of luck. Enjoy!

Worked great for jello!

Bought this to make jello brains for a zombie themed birthday party. I was worried about whether they would really be recognizable as brains, and about them retaining their shape when popping out, but they turned out great! I followed the suggestion from a previous comment and cut off the lip of the openings so that it was basically flat across the top. I used the Jello Jigglers recipe, not the regular recipe, when making the jello. When I started, I used olive oil as a coating before pouring in the jello, and when it was done I ran warm water on closed in side and used a butter knife to loosen the sides. They popped out easily. But then I ran out of time and didn't bother with the olive oil, water, or knife! I made several batches where I didn't do anything at all and they still popped out just as easily!
Love your brains!

I used it to make oreo truffles coated in white chocolate. It works really well, but a little difficult to get the finished product out. The candies looked great though, so well worth the effort.
ZOMBIE BRAINS JELLO SHOTS!

These molds were fabulous to make jello brain shots for a friends "Walking Dead" season premier party, and i will remake these for Halloween parties as well! Zombie Brains w/ Raspberry Blood (requires 3 molds & makes 12 brains) 3oz Lime Jello mix (NOT SUGAR FREE) 8oz Boiling Water 8oz ICE COLD Absolute Citron (store bottle in ice box for at least an hour) Raspberry Dessert Sauce (store bought in squeeze bottle) 4oz or 5oz plastic cups (like jello shot cups but a little larger) Boil a pot of water. (it's best to measure the water after it's boiled) While you're waiting... Use two fingers and some vegetable oil to lightly coat the inside of dry clean brain molds. You should make sure every nook and cranny is coated but you should not have any oil pooling in the mold. Set molds aside. Place jello mix in medium bowl add 8oz of boiling water and mix for 2 mins until mix is dissolved. Add ICE COLD liquor, stir, and immediately begin to pour into brain molds. Fill 3/4 of each brain and evenly distribute any remaining liquid. Cover each mold with plastic wrap and place in a level area in the fridge. LET THESE SIT OVERNIGHT Now the fun begins... Grab a plate and butter knife. Take one mold at a time out of the fridge. Run the back of the mold under warm (not hot) water for a few seconds. Take the butter knife and also run it under the water. (the wet knife will not stick to the jello) One brain at a time: Using the knife on its side apply a bit of pressure to the bottom of the brain and pull it away from the mold towards the center. Turn the mold over and gently start to squeeze and push the bottom of the mold. You are trying to release the suction of the jello from the mold. Turn the mold back of and if the brain doesn't slide out onto the plate, give the mold a little gentle and quick shake up and down. Don't worry the other brains should fall. Once on the plate take a cup and squeeze about a teaspoon, or more if you like, in the bottom of the cup. Use the knife to slide under the jello brain and place it over the "blood" in the cup. Give it a little jiggle left and right and it will slide around in the blood. Use a lid or plastic wrap to cover and place back in the fridge. Repeat 11 more times. *NOTE* another advantage of the blood is it will keep the jello from sticking to the cup and since the brains are a little larger then a standard jello shot most people will have a little bit of blood left on the side of their lips.

I love these! They look great and are easy to unmold. The mold is pretty flexible but if you're careful you won't make a mess. I set mine on top of a frozen entree to keep it level in the freezer. I can't wait till Halloween. I plan to add a little green food coloring and maybe a smidgen of vodka (I mean you don't want to water down your drink-but don't add too much or the cubes won't set up). These are fun for Halloween, Zombie themed parties, biology club mixers, and brain surgeon cocktail parties. I plan to use mine all the time.

Used to make cake 'brains' for Halloween...

Delivered very quickly. It durable and dishwasher safe. (at least we put it in the dishwasher and it came out okay). We used this to make chocolate covered cake brains for Halloween. The recipe and instructions are on YouTube. You can search "brain cake pops" - the woman who makes it has it under the user 'Ihascupquake'. They are easy and fun.. but you have to have this mold, lol. We ordered it and the mold came just in time to make them for Halloween. They were a huge hit!! We will actually be buying a couple more of these so we can make more than four at a time :)
A must-buy for Zombie fans!

My husband and I love zombies so I bought this Ice cube tray to serve drinks during our Zombie board game nights. Reasons you should buy it: 1.Brains stays SIDE UP! (see picture) It does not flip over, the flat part stays down and the tip of the brain even stays out of your drink, maintaining the creases and shape of the brain. 2.Comes off easily from silicone tray. Only cracks a bit (but doesn't break) sometimes when in contact with your cold drink. (There is no need to use warm water to get them out of tray, as box says.) 3.You can add RED food coloring for a cooler more brain-ish look (I've attached pictures). The tray holds 1cup of water, so mix a little more than 1cup of water with 1 drop of food coloring and you'll get a very cool looking pinkish brain. 4.I have not timed it but I don't think it takes longer than regular ice cubes to freeze. I leave it overnight and it's ready in the morning. Fill it up again and it's ready at night. Keep the cycle going and you have a whole bunch of little brains stored in your freezer in a few days! (Again, picture!) Great buy, we're very happy with the purchase
Can be used for jello....but with a few alterations

So I bought this specifically for use of jello....even though people had warned against doing so. Well let me tell you it works, but you have to do some alterations to the product. If you look at the mold the top/opening closes in on itself so the ice cube is a more circular shape...fine but this will not work with squishy jello. I cut the sides down so they were nearly flush with the flat portion of the tray, meaning the opening was now fanned out (so no extruding a semi soft product through a smaller hole, which would most certainly result in half masticated brains)! This was wonderful and the brain jello ended up being a huge hit. I did grease the insides with olive oil so the jello came out easier, and I just followed the jiggler instructions on the box.
