Farkel
By Robert S. Ljungquist on Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2013
This coffee maker does make a fine, hot cup of coffee; and, to my surprise, the warmer seems to work just fine at keeping a pot hot without burning it up. I really like the ability to lift off the water reservoir to fill it at the sink instead of having to bring the water to the machine. HOWEVER, the design of the socket where the tank fits is bad. My unit began to leak after six months of daily use and was, untimately, replaced under warranty after a fair amount of nonsense from Capresso. TO their credit they have continued to honor their warranty committment to the replacement units (which have also had the same failing) twice. This last time I was told that - in essense -that's it!!! No more repairs by them. As expected, this unit also began to leak and, as I can't really fault them for not standing by this product forever, I took a good look at what seems to be the problem. The water tank is a one piece, clear, hard plastic with a valve in the bottom which allows it to be carried full of water without dripping. It seems to work fine. The tank's outlet is a short pipe which fits into a gasketed port in the coffee maker. With time this gasket seems to wear out (maybe gets stiff from heat?) and begins leaking so the tank drains out onto the counter. This is the same design they've used for several years and (amazingly) this gasket is, still, not replaceable. I corrected this (assumed) wear issue by making the tank's outlet tube a bit bigger by wrapping one turn of plastic tape around it. This simple fix (that's what a "farkel" is) has worked well for a couple of weeks; has restored my much-liked coffee maker to full functionality; and, if things continue to wear down at this pace, I'll need to add a second "turn" of tape to the tube in a few months. A roll of tape should last a lifetime!

Nice features, but quit working after two days
By Coffee Lover + on Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2010
Tried a Cuisinart DTC-975, the valve in the bottom on the basket fell out and was lost so I sent it back on got this one. Nice features on this one, like the removable water bin, etc. Made coffee OK, not what I would consider hot enough, but at about 180 degrees, which seams like all you can get out of most of the "run of the mill makers" today. But, the issue is it just quit working after two days. And as I looked at it, the overall quality was no better than the masses, which is poor!
