Great value, works fine as replacement for air filled tires
By Bob Smith on Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2021
Replaced both front tires on my Ariens Zoom 42 zero turn mower. Exact match width wise, no need to make any adjustments. A little higher than the OEM tires, so adjusted the blade heights afterwards (pretty easy to do). I installed with the "bushings" in place first as I had to mow the lawn. The tractor had been out of action for a few weeks with the previous flat tire. Seemed to work fine, but I had ordered the precision bearing kit which came a week later. I tapped out the bushings and put in the Marathon bearings. Quite a difference in how the wheel rotated with the bearings vs. the bushings. Out of curiosity I had takend the dust boots off of the bearings and cleaned out the grease that was there when they arrived. The bearings appeared to be decent caged bearings that spun very well. I lubed them up with some park tool bike bearing grease (had it handy) and tapped them in. Pretty easy to do. The ride is a little harder and its clear that the lawn is showing wheel marks more, just from the lack of deflection of these tires and the weight bearing down more in one spot. Will have to make sure I aerate the lawn more diligently in the fall going forward.

A good replacement wheel, but not so great for Troy-Bilt Mustangs.
By Joe S. on Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2016
I ordered these wheels for my Troy-Bilt Mustang 42, knowing up front I would have to modify them to fit my mower. I knocked out the bearings and ground down the hubs about 1/4" on each side using a 4" grinder. After I was done I reinstalled the bearings and mounted the wheels. In my case the wheels were a bit offset to one side, so the lesson here is measure carefully and take off the exact amount of metal you need for each side of the wheel if you are mounting the wheels on a Troy-Bilt (or Cub Cadet) mower. Once on, the wheels seemed to perform well although they tend to pick up grass and jam it into the wheel assembly fairly often, requiring clearing, otherwise the wheel jams. This is quite a pain. I'm hoping once the rubber on the wheel wears down a bit that this will happen less frequently. Be sure to clean out the wheel where the grass jams up after each mowing and you'll probably be okay. I have a large, rough lot that compounds the issue. After using the wheels for a few cuts of my 1+ acre lot I noticed the left wheel was wobbling. Sure enough, the bearing was shot. I ordered the Marathon replacement bearings and hope they hold up better than those that came with the wheels, but to be fair, I might possibly have damaged the bearings when knocking them out to grind the hubs. Two more cuts and the right side bearings failed, luckily I had the replacements on hand. Time will tell how the replacement bearings hold up. I like these wheels, but it took a fair bit of work to get them mounted, and now they jam up with grass and dirt in the wheel mount assembly. If Marathon made a wheel that actually fit the Troy-Bilt Mustang 42 then I would give them 5 stars, but after the trouble I've gone through, three is possibly being generous.
