Great product! Wish I got it sooner.

I ordered the black Mountainsmith Vibe II pack so I could have a go to bag which would be large enough to carry my items and small enough to not stand out. The Vibe II does exactly this. It is extremely high quality, durable, looks good and excels at its intended purpose. I use this for short hikes, long walks and anytime I feel the need to carry more than I can comfortably fit into my pockets. Pros: High quality and fairly priced YKK zippers Yellow interior makes it easier to see items inside Interior organization is good Side buckle, of good quality. I like this much better than a buckle in the middle of the waist strap Small form factor Large enough to carry what I need. High value item! Cons: None that I have discovered Here is a list of items I sometimes carry at the same time in my Vibe II: Leatherman Juice S2 Keys w/ keyfob Streamlight stylus pro, Streamlight Nano or other small flashlight Small first aid kit Wallet Map of local area Pack of gum Coins/change Spyderco Tenacious or other similar sized knife Coleman Whistle/thermometer/magnifying glass all in one tool Few packs of wet wipes With all the above, there is still plenty of room for other small items. Also the pack does a great job of staying compressed, even with these items in it. I have never fully loaded this out as I don' want it to be too "puffy." This is another one of those items that once you use it, you will wonder why you didnt get it sooner.

Small bag, Big belt
By Digital Dori on Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2011
This small bag has a disproportionately large belt. Barely big enough for a wallet, keys, sunglasses and a few other items, though it has several compartments. The belt can accommodate a 48-inch circumference; that leaves a lot of excess belt for my 30-inch waist. Appears to be good quality.

Perfect for EDC, concealed carry.

I needed a fanny pack, primarily for concealed carry, for Florida summers. I was very happy with the quality of this fanny. The materials are durable, zippers are sufficiently strong, and construction is phenomenal. It doesn't look too tactical or scream "GUN!" In the main compartment I keep a Glock 27 with flush magazine. Within that compartment is a thin mesh zippered compartment, where I keep spare flashlight batteries, tissues, ibuprofen, gauze pad, lighter, fire starter, alcohol prep pads, water purification tabs, signal mirror, and a thermometer/compass keychain. In the smaller exterior zippered pocket I keep a spare magazine with +2 Pierce baseplate (within the sewn-in mesh pouch), and a space pen. A Leatherman wave or other folding knife will fit in in this pouch as well, but I generally leave it out to reduce weight, bulk, and confusion should I have to access my magazine. Overall the package is reasonably slim, unobtrusive, and comfortable (even on a short jog) when cinched to my 34" waist. I wouldn't try to fit a bigger "compact" pistol in this small fanny pack, I find the 27 to be "just right". For the draw, I reach behind with my left hand to pull the zipper to my left, then grab the pistol(which sits upside down, grip to right) with my right hand. For ease of access, I removed the zipper pulls from the two unneeded zippers (there are 2 zippers on each zipper, if that makes sense.) I also added a large paracord lanyard to the zipper that reveals my pistol, to so I am able to distinguish magazine lanyard vs pistol lanyard. If you're considering concealed carry in a fanny pack, be sure to weigh the disadvantages/advantages of off body carry, as there are retention issues, draw issues, etc. Personally I choose IWB carry whenever possible. Lastly, I went with black, which looks great, but might pick up some other colors because these packs are so cheap! Big thanks to nutnfancy for pointing out the excellent Mountainsmith Vibe!
Well-designed but tiny

I bought this pack for my 10-year-old's trip to Disneyland with the idea that he could be responsible for his own water bottle and chapstick. Small seemed ideal, but it is actually too small to hold our 12-ounce stainless steel bottles, and can just barely hold a regular disposable water bottle.
A Geocaching pack mule

My daughter and I like to go geocaching and early on I started looking for something to organize our growing collection of gadgets and swag. This little pack has fit the bill perfectly for us. It has 2 main compartments with zippered interior dividers that let us carry an amazing amount of gear and yet keep it organized for easy access. To give you a rough idea of the capacity, here is a partial list of what we jam into this little gem each time we go out: - Garmen Etrex 10 GPS - iPhone 4s - Pen - 0.5 oz hand sanitizer - Bandages - 4-6 pieces of swag for trading - Spare batteries for the GPS All in all, a couple pounds of gear that is quite comfortable to carry thanks to the wide belt (fits my 42" waist with some room to spare). Construction seems top notch on my bag with quality zippers and heavy duty stitching so I expect it to last us for years.

Vibe II

This product is high quality all around. The only suggestion I might offer to make it better would be to replace the three utility loops (one top center and one at either front side) with para cord instead of the fabric that is used. I probably will not use those loops as they are, I would not trust them to hold without tearing. Otherwise this is an excellent pack. Vibe II has the proper compartment size and structure for a small unobtrusive and comfortable lumbar pack.

"Man Purse" or EDC if you're cool

This little pack is great for carrying all the crap in your pockets, streamline getting out the door in the morning, and streamline downloading in the evening. Pens, meds, pocketknife, multitool, flashlight, keys, emergency whistle, nail clippers, first aid supplies, extra cash, cell phone, subcompact camera, gps--all these are things I've carried in this bag or on the belt (but not all at once...space is limited). Also known as EDC bag for "everyday carry" items. Sturdy, well designed, user friendly, looks good.

"As value and appearance are concerned, you cant beat the Mountainsmith Vibe II Recycled Lumbar Pack. It fits comfortably, and its slim enough to wear under shirts without a problem. However, it has a lot of padding on the inside which takes up a lot of extra space. If you plan to carry much more than your wallet, keys, cell phone, or mini camera, this might not be the bag for you."
As good as it gets

As far as small fannypacks go, i think the Vibe II by Mountainsmith is as good as it gets. It has enough room for all your tools, toys, and gadgets, for a trip, but isnt bulky or clunky. The strap will fit MOST people, but if your over 800 lbs, this aint for you. I can fit at least 2.5-3 lbs of gear in my pack. So buy one right now of your favorite color and enjoy it.(OR ELSE)
