NOT discontinued, product now off back order!!!
By Mimi on Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2023
I just hung up with Bausch & Lomb. I was down to my last unopened bottle, and was very worried this had been discontinued. I used to purchase through Amazon subscribe & save, but A canceled my subscription, said product was no longer available. I am happy to report that B&L says it is NOT discontinued, but had been on back order for quite some time. It is now off back order, and available. The days of $5 a bottle are gone, but for me, using 3 drops per lens per night, a bottle still goes for ages. Very good value for keeping lenses as impeccably clean as possible. On another note, I read a recent in-depth scientific study comparing hydrogen peroxide systems (like ClearCare) versus multipurpose systems (like Renu). The peroxide systems were (statistically significantly) superior for lens cleaning, but the study emphasized that it is essential not to use the cleaning jar with its neutralizing disc for more than 100 uses. The left over peroxide is an eye irritant, and the disk's ability to neutralize declines with each use. In the good old days -- disks sold separately -- I used to change my disk once a month. Not possible now. I am thinking I may quit buying ClearCare at Costco, because you get two 16-ounce bottles, and two disks, so the disk is in use for one-third more uses compared to the regular "drugstore" packaging of one or two 12-ounce bottles with one disk per bottle. For a slight savings on the whole regime, I use Target brand "sensitive eyes" saline at night for my cleaning/rinsing, but use Purilens preservative-free saline in the morning for rinsing lenses from the hydrogen peroxide jars and before putting in my eyes. I figure this is doing a relatively good job of keep preservatives out of my eyes. And of course, I am still in mourning over the discontinuation of the once-a-week enzymatic pills for use in the jar. I want to wear contacts, but I want them to be as clean as I can possibly keep them! Wow, quite a long way from the old days when I started wearing contacts at twelve years old... you put your lenses into a small case, and the case into the top of a small plug-in boiler, then added distilled water, and cooked your contacts clean. This probably was a superior system, and no trouble at home. On the road it was a different story, I remember hauling distilled water around Europe on one trip!

Daily Cleaner
By Andrew on Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2016
I've been wearing contacts for about 3 years now, Biofinity to be specific. I've always switched between Pure Moist solution and Clear Care (now they have a hydrating version). My eyes dry out faster with Clear Care, even though the contacts feel much cleaner. I found this product and figured I'd give it a try. Honestly, it's a pain to use because you have to make sure you completely rinse out any residue left behind because it is not meant to be used in the eye. I had to buy a saline solution just for that (no way I'd use Pure moist so loosely!). Even then, I'm not convinced that all the residue is gone. It's more hassle than it's worth and I would just recommend Clear Care if you're intent on having very clean lenses. To add some moisture, put some contact lens drops on the lenses before you insert them. I might use this every now and then, but not every day.
