Worth it's weight in gold
By Methodical on Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2014
I debated going with this system, but after spraying epoxy and 2k primer on my fenders, hood and trunk lid and having to spend a good amount of time cleaning the gun afterwards, especially the cup, I decided I needed to try this system and I am glad I did. And, I am glad I went with the Large cup as it's just the right size for me and holds more material, which minimizes the use of liners. If I knew about this system when I purchased my spray guns, I would've purchased them without the cup and used the savings to purchase this kit. I epoxied my doors today and when I cleaned the gun, I literally just used maybe a couple ounces of Acetone - just a couple fills in the gun until it ran clear and then sprayed some Acetone through the gun the with air line attached. I kept thinking that I'm missing something, so I tore the gun down to be sure and it was clean. It took way less time and material (i.e. Acetone, rags etc) cleaning with this system. I just tossed the liner and was done. Unless something weird happens, I won't be going back to using the regular cups. For now, I am sticking with the 3M PPS system. I highly recommend this system, even if you don't paint often. It's worth it's weight in gold. Less time, less mess.

Retaining ring too flimsy , will not create an air tight seal on the paint containing liner & lid
By Nao Matsumoto on Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2018
The retaining ring does not go on tight enough to create a seal around the disposable liner and the lid. This allows air to come in the paint container and spraying with the gun inverted is impossible. I have have a set that was built more sturdy and gave a very tight seal a couple of years ago. Feels like the manufacturer skimped out on material in their injection mold thus producing a flimsy retaining ring. Thoroughly disappointing when a giant corporation like 3M would make changes that declines product quality. The sad thing is that I already purchased the lids, the cups and even the dispensers. So Im going to have to live with a defective cup that doesn't deliver as advertised. The worst part is that they had it right not so long ago and they let the reputation of such an innovative smart paint system go down drastically. I have talked to many others in the business and they all agree that these cups have become flimsy and can not have the lids tight enough. Come on, 3M. Get your quality control right.
