Great holster, no "thinking" necessary for the thumb release
By Bill Cox on Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2015
I spent a good amount of time researching a concealment holster for my Glock. I was looking a holster both for every day carry and for IDPA sport shooting events without breaking the bank too much. There are a lot of fan's out there for Blade Tech and CompTac holsters, with good reason, they make good holsters. But, I kept returning to the BlackHawk Serpa line and the SafariLand ALS line as "good values" with positive, locking retention instead of just friction retention. After much thought and research, I ruled out the Serpa because I didn't like the idea of manipulating my trigger finger during the draw. Just me, I like the idea of a thumb release much better. All of the Safariland videos say that the ALS thumb release requires no "thought" or manipulation to actuate the release. I'm here to tell you that is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. If you start with the thumb on your draw-hand in the "thumbs up" position, or the 1911 thumb safety position, simply grasping the handgun will release the retention mechanism. Every time, smoothly and without any conscious thought. I had some slight doubts going in, but I'm a believer now. And, the ALS stands for Automatic Locking System. It is automatic. Holster the gun and the lock clicks into place on the ejection port. My only con, would be how stiff it is to get the holster on and off with the paddle affixed. As others have mentioned, the holster features a tab (removable) that hooks under your belt. It takes a bit to get the paddle holster on and off, especially compared to my Probus for a different gun, but I think it is impossible to draw the gun, holster and all... the holster stays put. And, tight to your body. My Glock fits perfectly in the holster, goldilocks, not too tight, not too loose. Didn't need to touch the tension adjustment screw. Finally, some have mentioned that their holster did not come with the belt loop attachment. Mine absolutely did. In fact, it came in a retail SafariLand plastic clamshell package, the easy open kind, not the kind that requires a chainsaw to open. The belt attachment is standard from SafariLand for the 6378, so perhaps retailers other than Amazon are separating them. My order was fulfilled by Amazon. PROs: - Fits the gun perfectly - Inexpensive, purchased with Prime shipping at about a third off retail - Simple, positive thumb-release retention - Paddle fits tight and with belt tab, it's not coming off nor moving with the draw CONs: - Tight tension between the paddle and holster plus a belt tab/hook takes a few seconds to get on and off. -

Does not fit SIG SP2022 even with modification
By Westlie jones on Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2018
READ BEFORE U BUY!!!!!!! I read all the reviews and determined that I could take the small piece out of the holster ( as many people claimed one could do) and make it fit the Sig SP 2022. I purchased this holster and removed the piece everyone was talking about but it still did not fit. This holster does not fit the sig SP 2022 even with modification. Don’t make the same mistake I made I am returning it asking for my money back. I have the .40 cal. I realize the 9 works much better.
