Top cuts into ankle

I love Merrel shoes, but these were a miss. Quality up to par but designed so the tongue cuts in almost flat and dug into my partners ankle. He couldn't wear them and I know he isn't the only one because I talked to a guy when I was returning them and he said the same thing. Went back.
