I bought the InSinkErator Badger 5 as a replacement for another disposal that stopped working. My plumber recommended this brand, noting that it has a solid reputation and a good life expectancy—and I can see why. Installation went smoothly, and the unit runs much quieter than my old one. It handles all types of food scraps with ease and hasn’t struggled with anything I’ve thrown at it so far. It’s efficient, reliable, and just does what it’s supposed to do. Overall, a great product from a trusted brand. Very happy with the purchase!

Great product, but not "Like New"

I was happy with this unit as a replacement for my kitchen disposal, so when my parents' overpowered model 777 failed after 26 years, I chose this one for them as well. Its slightly smaller diameter required some minor plumbing adjustment, but the real challenge was that it arrived damaged despite being listed by Amazon as "Condition: Used - Like New" with description "Looks and functions as if it were new. Item will come in original packaging." The original box was smashed (the outer box from Amazon was fine), the Styrofoam inside was pulverized, and the threads were severely damaged by the flange lock ring that had been jammed down at an angle by the impact (this likely explains why it was returned by the previous buyer(s)). As there was insufficient time to exchange the item before my return flight, I made it work (so far) by removing the threads entirely and adapting it to the original flange. Kudos to InSinkErator for maintaining a degree of backward compatibility in their products, but shame on Amazon for misrepresenting the item, which resulted in a non-standard installation costing me precious time that I am unable to recover.
