Lomanco Power Vent Motor

Find reviews valuable, and this one only deals with install on recent purchase. It was suggested this unit would fit many/most applications. It clearly states length of shaft (it seemed shorter than most others). For a straight forward install this length difference can be a deal breaker. I put to much stock in the statement 'would fit many/most applications'. As an older handyman, my equipment and tool collection is extensive and that is an edge many may not have. The shielding protecting the motor wires would not allow the motor to move higher in clamping ring. At the highest point on that short shaft, the fan blades made hard contact with the support arms. Had to remove metal from support ring to allow wire shield to move higher in ring. As well, motor seemed less secure once clamping ring was fully tightened. It appears the support ring is stamped to produce 'tension tabs'. Am inclined to think that they become compressed when securing the original motor. I felt inclined to re-bend these to hold the new motor more securely. I did not consider returning motor because I made the decision to buy a unit with a short shaft assuming there would be a workable fudge factor, for most, there is not! One the plus side, this motor has larger slots for airflow and cooling. It is also clamp together with 3 bolt instead of the 2 on my original unit. A picture=1000 words; note screw driver tip, tension tab, safety wire to minimize the chance of motor ever dropping allowing blades to hit. Also note higher position of motor wire/shield. Likely what I should have realized is the term UNIVERSAL only applied to Lomanco units. I did not note the longer shaft unit on Amazon.
