During the 17th century, several blast furnaces were born in Finland. The vast expanses located in the pohja region, together with the presence of water and aqueducts are the ideal ground for the creation of an important hub for the Finnish metal industry. The antskog blast furnaces were born around 1630, followed by those of billnäs in 1641. Fiskars was founded in 1649 and today is one of the oldest companies in the West.
