Put the "prize" in compromise.
The word "compromise" has a lot of negative connotations, but it's so important when making big decisions. For instance, for my wedding I wanted a laid-back, informal feel while my wife wanted a more hoity-toity affair. I wanted drinks to be served in mason jars, she wanted them served in crystal, and we compromised on these Jeff Foxworthy Redneck Wine Glasses. It has all the best features of both, and only some of the worst features!
Compromise is important not just in marital affairs but government. For instance, the country has recently been racking up the national debt. Democrats want to balance the budget by raising some taxes, and Republicans want to cut spending. As a compromise, the Senate decided to do neither. That's the beauty of compromise: Nobody gets what they really want.
