I would say they're pretty good.

The last time I helped my dad decorate the big Blue Spruce in our yard (~45ft tall) and you could see it from a mile away at night. We would take 3 100ct strings of lights, one each of red, green and white and make it so that all 3 strings of the lights were red/white/green in a row. We started from the top of the tree, working on ladders with extension poles. By the time we got to the bottom of the tree we had 6,500 lights on the tree...

I wish I could find the pictures of it, but I think they're still at my dad's house.
