Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

Many of my ancestors came to the USA from their home country (Italia), and settled not in Scranton, but in nearby Wilkes-Barre. Does that count?

Oh, only in horseshoes, eh?

We can cellar 545 bottles here at home. This means we must quickly consume the other 436 bottles on hand...

I don't want to discourage you, Woot, but there are more than 19,000 cities and towns in the US. If you only ask one every day it's going to take you more than 52 years to get through the list. Woot, you need to ask yourself, "Is this what I want to focus on for the rest of my life?" Now whatever you decide, we'll support you. We just want you to think seriously about your future.

Besides me, who lied, there are 58 people who claim to be from Scranton. Let's assume that many of them are from Lackawanna County, and say they are from Scranton the way somebody from Schaumburg says they're from Chicago. That's 58 of the 214,477 residents.

If we assume the rest of the 1266 respondents live in the US and not Libya, New Zealand, Uruguay, etc. then we would only have to assume that Scrantonites are attracted to the poll more than others to the ratio of 58 to 1. Considering how boring Scranton is purported to be, probably not that unlikely.

Otherwise, without those assumptions, there is only a 31% chance of finding ONE person from Scranton in a sample of that size. So, I don't feel so bad about lying since I was probably the 59th person to do so. Two wrongs may not make a right, but 59 must be getting close.

I once passed a truck carrying bananas that was on it's way to Scranton, PA. I guess something happened, I heard there were no bananas in Scranton for a few days afterward.

I mean, how many bananas could a truck carry? Must be about 30,000 pounds.

I was born in Scranton, but grew up in Drinker, which is outside of Mt. Cobb, outside of Moosic Mountain, outside of Dunmore, near Scranton. But I did go up the Eynon and Miracle Mart when I was a kid. And took the town bus to the Comerford.
